Description

Since 1955, Wolfson Children's Hospital has been a place of hope, second chances, and medical wonders for countless children and their families. Motivated by the idea that every child deserves another birthday, the Wolfson Children's Challenge is a celebration of their lives. This symbolic event features 55 children who share their inspiring stories.

As a not-for-profit hospital, Wolfson Children's relies on the generosity of people like you to ensure that every child continues to receive the world-class care they deserve. You can support the Wolfson Children's Challenge by sponsoring the event, running the 55-km ultra marathon, organizing a relay team for the 55-km ultra marathon, running the individual 30-km, or participating in the 1-Mile Fun Run.

The inspiration for the Wolfson Children's Challenge came from Paul Wilson, whose newborn son, Luke, faced difficult surgery within hours of birth. Paul hoped to raise $5,000 by running 55 miles, the age of the hospital during his son's stay.

Since 2009, the event has raised more than $2 million toward the purchase of a 3 Tesla MRI. This groundbreaking technology can lead to earlier diagnoses and the elimination of certain surgeries and procedures.

In 2014, the Wolfson Children's Challenge will raise money for a Nuclear Medicine SPECT/CT Camera and start a technology support endowment. The goal for 2015 is to raise $500,000 to complete the purchase of the SPECT/CT Camera. A portion of all gifts to the Wolfson Children's Challenge will be matched by Baptist Health for the Wolfson Children's Challenge Endowment. For more information, please contact Baptist Health Foundation, 904.202.2919.

Start Times & Waves

New this year, runners and teams will be able to register for a start time by their predicted pace.   The waves are grouped by average pace for the distance of the race (30km or 55km).   The goal is for all individuals and teams to complete the race within the one hour window of 1:00pm and 2:00pm.   The start times have been set to fit within that window based on pace.   Participants are free to register for any start time they feel best fits their pace, however PRS Race Timing may verify the times and adjust the starting waves as best needed to fit the needs and times of the event.   Final start wave times will be posted on January 29, 2015.
