Description

Don't miss your chance to be one of the first and only people to run across the Poinciana Parkway to launch the new road system opening!  This innovative ribbon cutting will be a great opportunity to experience the Poinciana Parkway before cars are able to drive on it.  Participants will receive a goodie bag and t-shirt the day of the race!

Direction & Parking

Parking will be at Deerwood Elementary School, 3701 Marigold Avenue, Kissimmee, FL 34758.  Since there is not parking available at the start line, shuttles will bring to the race start and back.  If Deerwood Elementary School fills to capacity, a secondary parking area at KOA Elementary School will be available.  IMPORTANT NOTICE: Due to space constraints at the start/finish line, there is absoutely no parking available near the start/finish area.  All race participants must park at Deerwood Elementary School.

Entry Fee

$20 through April 23th; $30 April 24th-April 30th.

$5 student rate for registrants 17 years of age and under.  Discount will be applied at checkout.

6:30 am Registration and Packet Pickup opens

7:30 am Open Ceremony and Deciation for the Poinciana Parkway, followed by the start of the Poinciana Parkwayway 5k Presented by Solivita and Commisioner Brandon Arrington 

9:00 am 5k Awards Ceremony

Packet Pick Up

Packet Pick Up will only be available at the race site on race morning.

T-Shirts

All participants will receive an event t-shirt at packet pickup. Shirt sizes not guaranteed for day of race registrants.

Awards & Age Divisions

Awards will go to the Top 3 Overall Male & Top 3 Overall Female, and Top 3 Male & Female Finishers in the following age groups: 13 & Under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over.

Bib Tag Scoring

We will be utilizing the ChronoTrack bib tag, which will be located on the back of your race bib. Do not remove, fold or alter the bib tag in anyway.

Brandon was elected to the Osceola County Commission in 2008, to represent District 3. He is also currently representing the Commission on the Public Safety Coordinating Council, Florida Association of Counties Board, CareerSource Central Florida, Kissimmee Chamber of Commerce and Central Florida Commission on Homelessness.

Past duties include serving as the Chairman of the Board in 2011 and 2015. In the past, he has also assumed other leadership roles regionally, having served as Chairman of MetroPlan Orlando, Vice Chairman of Lynx, Chairman of the SunRail board, and Chairman of Workforce Central Florida and the Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board. Brandon is a Kissimmee native and a graduate of Osceola High School, where he met his wife Kristen. The commissioner is also a graduate of Auburn University, "War Eagle!" 

He is a member of the Poinciana Rotary Club and a past mentor for Take Stock in Children. He also served as the past chair for Alzheimer's Walk in Kissimmee and helped fund-raise for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Relay for Life, Boy Scouts, and the YMCA. He is a proud participant in Read Across America, an annual reading motivation and awareness program for children.

Outside of serving his community, Brandon is an animal lover (currently has 3 dogs and 2 cats) and he enjoys spending his time outdoors appreciating all that our community has to offer from our world famous lakes to our beautiful, manicured golf courses.

For safety reasons, bicycles, roller skates, strollers and in-line skates will be prohibited from the race course. The use of headphones is discouraged.
