Lake Kissimmee Adventure Race & 50K

A Race Through History & Wild Florida

Set in one of Florida’s most scenic and historic parks, this adventure race is more than just a competition—it’s a journey through time. Lake Kissimmee State Park is home to vast prairies, numerous oak hammocks, and more than 35,000 acres of lakes, rivers, and canals, offering the perfect backdrop for an epic adventure. Participants will also race past the famous 1876 Cow Camp, where they’ll get a glimpse into the life of Florida’s Cracker Cowboys, the original cattle ranchers of the state. This unique piece of history adds an unforgettable element to the race, blending adventure with the rugged spirit of Florida’s past.

Adventure Race:

The Lake Kissimmee Adventure Race isn’t just about speed—it’s about endurance, teamwork, and strategic navigation. Whether you're an experienced adventure racer or tackling your first race, this course will challenge you with a mix of terrain, water crossings, and strategic route choices, but is also built to be beginner friendly.

This race will challenge athletes with mountain biking, trekking, and paddling through the park’s diverse landscapes—all while using Topo maps to navigate the terrain. With both 4-hour and 8-hour race options, participants will push their limits across miles of winding trails, open grasslands, scenic waterways, and hidden checkpoints. Competitors can race solo or as part of a team (2, 3, or 4 people), working together to strategize, navigate, and conquer the course.

50K:

This ultra-distance trail race will test your grit, stamina, and determination as you traverse the scenic landscapes of Lake Kissimmee State Park.

The 50K course consists of five 10K loops, winding through oak hammocks draped in Spanish moss, open prairies, and the winding trails of Old Florida. But there's a twist—honoring the heritage of the park and the Florida Crackers, which are Florida's original cowboys, runners will receive a horseshoe at the beginning of each lap and must be carried throughout the whole race. To continue onto the next loop, you must present your horseshoe(s) to get the next horseshoe and advance to the next lap. By the time you cross the finish line, you'll have completed 50 kilometers and earned five horseshoes—symbols of your endurance and strength.

🔹 Race Start: 7:00 AM
🔹 Cutoff Time: 9 hours (4:00 PM)
🔹 Course: Five 10K loops through diverse terrain
🔹 Challenge: Collect and carry a horseshoe each lap
🔹 Total Distance: 50K (31 miles)

This unique ultra-run pays tribute to the legacy of Florida’s cattle-driving pioneers while offering runners a rugged and rewarding challenge. Whether you’re aiming for a personal best, your first ultra, or simply want to experience the untamed beauty of old Florida, this race is for you.
