Description
What is Hott Shot Running? “It’s a running race… The total distance is slightly longer then the last 5k you ran. It is 4 short races, 4 starts, 4 finishes and 1 final score. Your times are translated to points. Awards are given for individual performances or as part of a team. The individual competitor can take home an award as 1 of the top 3 overall finishers (men/women) or as 1 of the top 3 finishers in their age (men/women) bracket. The group challenges include the Team Challenge, Relay Challenge and Predictive Challenge. In the Team Challenge we calculate the top scores from your group and use that to determine the Team Challenge Winner. The Relay Challenge uses the top runs from your group to determine the Relay Challenge winner. The Predictive Challenge uses all your team times, adds them together and compares your actual times against a predicted time supplied by your team leader. And it is all followed by a runner’s festival party.”
ABOUT THE RACE
DECATHLON STYLE SCORING, 400M, 800M, 1500M, 3000M RACES WITHIN THE RACE
When you compete in one of our signature races, you are running 4 individual trials/races. 4 starts, 4 finishes and 1 final score. You will be competing in a 400m (1/4 mile), 800m (1/2 mile), 1500m (1 mile) and a 3000m (2 mile) race. The total miles covered is 5700 meters or 3.54 miles. Slightly longer then the last 5k you ran. Each race is scored using a patent pending scoring system similar to the way a modern-day decathlon is scored. Instead of competing on just time, you are competing against a point system.
For example, you (a female) just finished the 400 meter race, your time was 1 min 40 sec. The 1 min 40 sec is graded as a score of 1,433 points Click here to see points calculator. Your competitor in your same age group may have run 1 min 45.05 sec and scored 1,408 points. Congrats! you are on top, albeit just for the moment. Your competitor may be better suited to run the longer distances and isn’t out of the race because you have a slight lead. YOU HAVE 3 MORE TRIALS TO COMPLETE!!!
Single Competitors, Social Groups and Companies Join in the RUN Fun
The Individual Competitor:
As a sole competitor, you have the opportunity to compete in the overall and the age group competitions. We give out awards for the 26 age group winners as well as the overall winners. The group challenges include, the Team Challenge, the Relay Challenge and the Predictive Challenge.
TEAM, RELAY AND TIME CHALLENGE ... More fun, more ways to play
The Team Challenge:
This challenge can include any number of runners. Only the top 4 runners on the team will be used to determine the total team score. Registering your group for the Team Challenge automatically enters the group into the Relay Challenge.
The Relay Challenge:
The relay challenge can include any number of runners. Only the top 4 runs, NOT RUNNERS (400M, 800M, 1500M, 3000M) will be used to determine the total team score. The team points total must come from 4 different runners. Registering your group for the Relay Challenge automatically enters the group into the Team Challenge.
Predictive Time Challenge:
As the group captain, did you remember to enter your predicted group time for the Predictive Time Challenge. The predicted group time will be compared against your actual group time. The winner of this challenge will be the group that comes closest to their actual team time without going over that predicted time. ALL team members times are counted in this challenge. Only those teams that finish under their predicted time are considered for this group challenge. For example, your group ran a combined total time of 2:30:10.50. If you had guessed your groups combined time would be 2:20:15.00, then you would have been over the predicted value and eliminated from a podium appearance.
DECATHLON STYLE SCORING SYSTEM ON STEROIDS
Scoring System & Formulas
In the decathlon, an athlete receives a score for each event, with the cumulative score from all 10 disciplines determining the final standings. Kevin Mayer holds the world record with a total score of 9,126 points. Scoring is independent of other athletes. It’s not based on final position in each discipline, but rather an individual’s final time, height or distance.
