Description
After a long, 4-month process, Guinness World Records has approved the attempt for cycling instructor, Mary Marcia Brown, (along with a minimum class of 10 cyclists) to attempt to set the World Record for Longest spinning (indoor cycling) class. Beginning at noon on July 23rd, a 24-hour attempt will take place at the Lakeland Family YMCA. Guinness World Records instates a set of very strict guidelines to achieve this record. Riders must all be doing the same thing at the same time throughout the class (positions, technique, changing resistance, etc). Riders must remain on their bikes and continue pedaling nonstop throughout the ride. Rest breaks are accumulated (5 minutes per hour) and taken together as a group per the instructor's directive. Due to GWR's requirements of video, photography, specified witnesses, logbooks, timing devices, etc, spectators are not allowed inside the cycling studio at any point during the ride, but may observe from the studio's entrance. Riders must be physically and mentally prepared to make the 24-hour attempt. If at any time a rider does not adhere to any of the GWR rules, his/her ride ends. Understand, that the Instructor may choose to end the ride at any time prior to or after the 24-hour riding time.
