Description

Oviedo Run Club is partnering up with The Oviedo Preservation Project to put on this year's race!!  Guaranteed to be the best goodie bag and race shirt EVER!

The course is an out and back route that runs along the Cross Seminole Trail and past many important Oviedo landmarks.  The trail was once the railroad that helped Oviedo become one of the country's largest supplier of watercress and celery.

Come in costume and stick around for the post-race party that will be well attended by local sponsors with free food and fun activities.

Proceeds from the race are being donated back into the community, including HOPE Helps, Inc. and local public school food pantries.

PLEASE BRING A FOOD ITEM AND PARTICIPATE IN THE FOOD DRIVE!!

Twilight Tour

Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Oviedo Cemetery!

Join us for an hour-long visit with some of Oviedo’s founders. We’ll be touring the cemetery under the guidance of historical figures who’ve come to life for the evening to introduce us to their dearly departed friends. These are the SAME featured founders who will visit with guests at Saturday’s Rising event over breakfast. Saturday, these actors will be on a stage surrounded by chairs, so this may be a better option for those who want to see the program but aren’t sure they can stand for the hour-long mobile show at the cemetery.

Tales of civil war, suicide, celery, snakes, and other surprising scenarios will be center stage at The Oviedo Preservation Project’s Annual Cemetery Tour, now know as the Twilight Tour. This event will take place at the Oviedo Cemetery (across from Oviedo High School on S.R. 426), and your $3+ donation is appreciated, though not mandatory. 100% of proceeds go to charity. All actors and organizers are volunteers.

Please join us to hear more in-depth stories from actors in costume who will tell about themselves and about what Oviedo was like when they were alive. The show is performed “theater in the rounds” style, with various stations coming alive at the same time. Visitors will move from station to station to interact with the characters. For more information, contact Megan Sladek at 407-365-8888 or megan@oviedotraditions.org.

School Grant for Largest Teams

Every year, we offer up to three $500 grants - for the largest elementary, middle, and high-school teams. But there is ONE caveat:  the minimum team size needed to be in the running 25 people. We have had teams as large as 40 people before, so this is no big deal :) We're going for BIG here, so wrangle up a few more friends to come walk through history with you!!

Remember, students still in high school pay "your age" as the registration fee through October 18! (If you are 5 years old, the registration is $5 through October 18th).

DISCOUNTS

Yes! We still have them!

  • Students high school and younger pay their age through October 18th.
    • Example - your child is 7 years old. When you enter her birthdate, the system will automatically adjust her price to $7)
  • Older people pay 100-their age through October 18th
    • Example - you are 88. When you put in your birthdate to the registration module, the price will automatically adjust to $12)
