The Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry, or BEAM, is a non-profit, community based organization serving low income residents who live or work in the local beaches communities. To transport donated food and other items, the organization uses industrial carts that are currently in disrepair. My name is Ben Black and I am a Boy Scout in Troop 277. My Eagle Scout Project is to repair these carts by removing rust, repainting them and replacing wheels. That way, these carts are not only functional, but will last for years to come.
To replace the carts, the cost to BEAM would be over $10,000. With the help of funds raised with this event and the volunteer work of my fellow scouts, we hope to upgrade these carts for considerably less.
To raise funds for the supplies and expenses of this project, we will be holding a Virtual 5K on Saturday, October 3, 2020. You will race at a location you choose and post your time on this website. All funds raised for this event will be used for project supplies with any remaining funds donated to BEAM. If you are not interested in racing in the event, please consider making a donation in support of the project via this website.
Prizes will be awarded for the fastest times posted under and over 18, best race day picture and a random drawing. Please post your times and pictures on the website on race day, October 3th.
Thank you for your support in making this project a success!
