Description
Come join us for the 3rd annual "Making Turtle Tracks" Beach 5K Fun Walk/Run on beautiful Panama City Beach. Join your family and friends on a morning walk along our white, sandy beach, while learning about local sea turtle conservation efforts. This event is a beach 5K, and will not be setup on the adjacent paved road, so please keep this in mind while preparing. This event is being organized by Gulf World Marine Institute, Inc. and Panama City Beach Turtle Watch; all proceeds will be directed to sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation efforts at Gulf World Marine Institute.
**PLEASE NOTE - VENUE CHANGE**
The event will start on the sandy beach in front of the Beach Access 52 near the Barefoot Hide-A-Way Restaurant. Check-in/shirt pick-up begins at 7:00, and the Walk/Run starts at 8:30. Participants will walk 2.5K east towards Bid A Wee Beach, then return back to the starting point for a total of 5K. There will be parking available at Gulf World Marine Park, and a crosswalk is located at the intersection of Hills Road and Front Beach Road. Again, Beach Access 52 will get you the closest to the starting point, and we will be walking on the actual beach! Along the way, participants will learn about local sea turtles, shorebirds, marine mammals, and other local coastal wildlife.
All participants that register by April 12th are guaranteed an event T-shirt; after that, participants will have the option to buy shirts at the event as supplies last. Day-of event and walk-up event registration will be available at a $5 increased rate. Starting at midnight the morning of April 27th, the online registration fee will be $45. Also please note: registrants who sign up the day of the event can not be be guaranteed an event shirt. Every participant will also be given a goodie bag with information from each sponsor and other local organizations. Water stations will be provided. We hope to see you there!
