Viva Festival de San Fermin!
For the 5th year, Seville Quarter is recreating the “Running of the Bulls” in historic downtown Pensacola. This annual event, made famous by author Earnest Hemingway, has participants chased by angry horned bulls. The Seville Quarter encierro features the Pensacola Roller Gurlz as the “Bulls”. As the first blast is at 10:00 a.m. the runners will take to the roughly three mile course. At the second rocket the bulls will be released, wielding wiffle bats, to chase down the participants. As is customary in Pamplona runners are requested to wear all white with red kerchiefs or sashes.
There is no fee to simply Run with the Bulls. Those wanting a shirt, bandana and complimentary beer must register and pay a nominal fee.The 1st 200 paid participants will receive a commemorative Hornitos bandana. Paid participants registered prior to July 6 will get the 2015 Running of the Bulls t-shirt. All others will get shirts as supplies last.
Following the Running of the Bulls the festival will continue in the street in front of Seville Quarter with live Latin music, complimentary beverages to paid participants and food for purchase. Prizes will be awarded to the Best Group, Best Horns (roller derby bulls), Best Senor, Best Senorita, Most outlandish costume and the "Viva Pamplona" Group Spirit award.
There are a few simple rules for those attending the Festival de San Fermin:
1. Run At Your Own Risk!
2. Do NOT Touch The Bulls.
3. If You Go Down, Stay Down.
4. Do NOT Stand Still.
5. Children Under Ten (or those that don’t want to be hit) Use The Sidewalk!
