Edgewater Run-4-Others 5K/1Mile

The morning of the race you should arrive at Edgewater Church at 19190 Cochran Blvd. in Port Charlotte, FL no later than 7:30 AM. Packet Pickup will open at 6:00 AM and will remain open until 7:30 AM. Late registration will also be available on Race Day from 6:00 AM until 7:30 AM. Grab a few friends to run with you!   You should also turn in any Sponsorship Money you raised at the time of Packet pick up.   Parking will be across the street from the Church. There will be Sheriff Deputies controlling traffic so you can safely cross Cochran Blvd.  There will be a brief Pre Race Meeting directly in front of the Church by the DJ booth at 7:30 AM. We will then move to the Starting Line. There will be 3 corals at the Start Line. If your 5K time is >30 minutes please move up the the front coral. If your 5K time is 30 to 40 minutes please line up in the middle coral. If you 5K time is greater than 40 minutes, please move to the third coral. They will be clearly marked. I Milers should line up behind the third coral.  This race will be a timed start so your time will not start until you cross the Starting line. Your timing chip is in your bib.   When you cross the finish line ,you will be handed your Finishers Medal. Bottled water will also be available at the finish line. Then proceed back to the area in front of the Church where bananas and your pancake breakfast will waiting for you.   The awards ceremony will be held in front of the DJ booth as soon as the final runners cross the line and all the data is compiled. All of the inflatables and attractions will open at 8:30 so bring your friends and your family to cheer you on.   If you have a family member that would like to volunteer on the course to direct the runners and cheer you on please have them arrive at 6:30 AM.It is going to be a great Race and a really fun day!

 This will be a timed 5K Race.   Every runner will receive a beautiful 3” finishers medal.  (see attached) Registrations recieved before October 24, 2014 at 11:59 PM are guaranteed to recieve a gender specific commemorative Sport Tec T-Shirt featuring the race logo on the front, along with, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer logo and the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida logo. All the sponsors will be on the back.    Registrations after October 24th, 2014 will recieve a T-Shirt as availability allows.   Your size will not be guaranteed.   Upon completion each runner will receive a Pancake breakfast from IHOP restaurant.   We will be awarding 1st, 2nd and 3rd in all age groups along with Masters and Grand Masters.  There will also be an after party featuring a DJ.  We will have 5 inflatables, a quad trampoline bungee jump and a mechanical bull for kids of all ages.   The after party and all the rides are free and open to the public and will include a Market/Craft Fair and great food vendors serving up all your favorites.  1K Fun Run will receive a special finishers award and a pancake breakfast from IHOP.  The one mile will not be timed.     Our race will benefit the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida and the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer.   I will post the final route soon.

Age Group Awards.     We will be awarding Age Group awards in the following manner.   >7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15, 16-17, 18-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74,75-79, 80+.   1st, 2nd and 3rd in each age group 19 and under will recieve an additional medal.   1st place in each age group 19 and under will receive a gift certificate from BlingRunners good for a free registration to one of their races, along with their medal.   1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in all age groups 20 and above will each receive a Stainless Steel Travel Mug featuring the Run-4-Others logo.    1st place in each age group above 20 will each receive a $40 Gift Card from LaFrance Dry Cleaners along with their Travel Mug.

Win a FREE Voucher into next years Race and a $25 gift card from Buffalo Wild Wings.    We are adding one more element to this years race. In an effort to raise as much money as possible for our charities we are asking all of our registrants to get their non running friends to sponsor them for any amount they can for running the race. Similar to a walk-a-thon. Any registrant that can obtain just $100.00 of sponsorship money will receive a voucher good for a FREE registration into next year’s 2015 Run-4-Others 5K event. The top 4 money raisers, in the event, will each receive a $25.00 Gift Certificate to Buffalo Wild Wings in North Port along with their Free Registration Voucher! Just collect your sponsorship money and turn it in when you pick up your registration packet the week before the event. Have all checks made out to Edgewater United Methodist Church. Their sponsorship is tax deductible. You will receive via email a printable PDF form for you to record your donations on.

Packet Pickup Dates and Locations   

Tuesday, November 11th in Downtown Sarasota at the new Fit2Run store located at 1400 Main Street, Sarasota, FL from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Wednesday, November 12th at the Estero Fit2Run located at 23190 Fashion Drive, Estero, FL from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  

Thursday, November 13th at the University Park Fit2Run located at 8249 Cooper Creek Blvd. University Park, FL from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  

Friday, November 14th at Edgewater United Methodist Church located at 19190 Cochran Blvd. Port Charlotte, FL from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.    

You will also be able to pickup your packet the day of the race from 6:00 AM until 7:30 AM at Edgewater Church.
