A VIRTUAL 5K!

Join us in the MOST EXCITING VIRTUAL 5K you've ever seen!  You can run anywhere you’d like! You are the director of this race! Map out your course around your town, your favorite trail, or on your treadmill or in your living room; the possibilities are endless. There are no requirements as to where you run this race or what the terrain looks like. Road, trail, track, or some combination of the three. It’s all good! Encourage friends from around the country, heck the world, to participate with you in their corner of the globe! Share your race results via social media for bragging rights with all your friends.  Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place overall winners as well as 1st place age group winners! It gets even better...upon signing up get you are automatically entered into our raffle!

This isn't our typical event and these aren't typical times. Just like businesses, the COVID-19 pandemic is financially impacting our nonprofit. All funds earned from race fees and donations will be used by Drug Free Punta Gorda to continue our mission to promote healthy drug free choices to our teens and community. 

How’s this going to work?

Step 1:  To participate in Virtual 5K, complete registration, pay the race fee, and start prepping for race day!

Step 2:  Run your 5K anytime between May 16-May 17th.  Time yourself using a GPS tracking app (Strava, Runkeeper, Garmin, Map My Run, etc.) 

Step 3:  Share you Run (your time, photos, etc.) on Social Media (Facebook or Instagram), by tagging Drug Free Punta Gorda or email your results to alyssa@rtnbk.com

Step 4:  Tune in on via Facebook Live June 6th for Medal Winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd), age group prize winners, and Raffle Prize winners  (Announcement time to be determined)

There will be swag, right?

Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners!   By signing up you will automatically be entered into our SWAG raffle being held via Facebook Live on June 6th, 2020. 

When can I complete my run?

Any time between May 16th and May 17th. You have the whole weekend!

Where can I complete my run?

ANYWHERE YOU WANT!!

If you are a local resident of Punta Gorda a suggested course map is provided. If you wish to run this 5k course you may, but please be responsible and respect the six foot social-distancing protocol and/or respect all directions by the parks department or other local officials. We do not have a permit at any park, so nothing is reserved for this event and you are operating as an individual while you complete this run. 

What’s this about a Raffle?

We will have raffle prizes up for grabs for all participants. On June 6th via Facebook Live time TBD; so stay tuned!  We will be randomly choosing participants to win fabulous and fun prizes. Also, keep an eye on our Drug Free Punta Gorda social media page for a bonus raffle prize just for those who tag us when sharing pictures or videos of their runs.
