The 11th Annual Turkey Day 5K in Sanford, Florida is back and looks a lot different than our previous 10 years.  While COVID-19 has dramatically changed our world and the race industry along with it, we want to offer somewhat of a return to normalcy this upcoming holiday season.  

As of November 9, 2020, we are excited to announce that the City of Sanford has given us a FINAL permit approval to have a LIVE, IN PERSON race through downtown Sanford.  The only thing that would cancel the live event would be an executive order from the State or Federal government and we don't see that happening.  In the coming weeks, we will communicate with all participants as to the requirements for everyone attending.  A few of the things we will be doing is having a separate start and finish line, expanded open start time and requiring everyone in the staging area to wear a face covering and maintain social distancing.  Once you are through the start line, you can remove your face covering if desired. 

We are also offering an option to participate in a virtual race any day that weekend from Thursday, November 26 to Sunday, November 29.

Turkey Day 5K Costume Contest is back:
Unfortunately, while we won't be able to have an in person costume contest this year, we will have a contest on our Facebook page.  Upload a photo of your costume to our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/racetimesports) from Thursday, November 26th to Sunday, November 29th.  The photo with the most likes will be sent a $100 gift card.

As of November 9, 2020, we have a FINAL permit approval to have a LIVE, IN PERSON race through downtown Sanford. All participants will be asked to wear a face covering while not on the course and all participants are required to electronically sign the waiver at time of registration accepting any and all risks if exposed to COVID-19.  We will also have separate start and finish lines with an open start line for 20 minutes.  Registration has been opened to around 1,000 participants.  This can vary depending on how many participants sign up for the virtual race.

Timing and Scoring:
This fun run will be chip timed.  All registered runners will receive individual times.  Please be sure to enter your phone number at time of registration if you would like to receive a text with your time when you cross the finish line.  Times will also be posted on the results board onsite as well as live results online.

Finisher Medals:
All participants will receive a finisher medal.

All runners registered by Monday, November 16 will be guaranteed their requested shirt size.  We will do our best to accommodate anyone registering after Monday, November 16th to get their requested shirt size, however shirt sizes may limited.

At this time, there will be no awards due to COVID-19 and the need for social distancing.

Pre Race Packet Pick Up
Pre event packet pick up will be Monday, November 23rd from 10:00am to 7:00pm,  Tuesday, November 24th from 10am to 7pm, and Wednesday, November 25th from 10am to 3pm at Front Running Sports located at 1061 S. Sun Drive, Unit 1097, Lake Mary, FL 32746.  If you are not able to make it to pick up early, you may have a friend or family member pick up for you.  No I.D. required.  Also, we will have your packet available for pick up the morning of the event at the event site starting at 7am.

We will also ship your t-shirt, bib and finisher medal to you via USPS Priority 1 Day Flat Rate Box starting the week of November 16, 2020 for an additional $10 per registered participant.  Please select this add on during registration.  (Families or groups of 4 or more, please contact us directly for special shipping rates.)

Everyone is Welcome:
This is an event for ALL levels to participate.  Runners, Walkers, and strollers and baby joggers are all welcome.

Event Beneficiary:
This event will benefit the Christian Sharing Center.  The Sharing Center provides basic and essential needs during times of financial crisis.  We ask ALL participants on race morning to bring some non perishable food to help stock their food pantry and feed those in need.  

Also, feel free to bring used running shoes.  This was very popular last year and we were able to give out dozens of pairs of shoes to those in need. :)

Course Map and Parking

*** Please note:  The walk from the parking lot areas to the start line can take up to 10 minutes.  ***

All streets marked with "RED" are closed for this event.  The best way to get to the parking areas is to travel on 3rd Street from 17-92.  Once you reach Palmetto, turn left towards the parking areas.  Law enforcement and Citizens on Patrol will be at 1st Street to guide you to the parking areas shown on the attached map.  Follow the "BLUE" line for the quickest way to the parking areas.
