The past 11 years Pink Up The Pace has been blessed with love and support from our beautiful community with your participation in our annual 5K walk/run. The event provides a way for our community to come together to kick off and support breast cancer awareness month. The money raised provides funds for breast imaging for the St. Johns County residents. The 3.1-mile walk/run takes place to support the fighters, admire the survivors, and honor those taken.
Traditionally this walk has been held the first Saturday in the month of October. This year, because of the coronavirus pandemic, the board has decided that for the safety of our participants, spectators, and volunteers, to make this year's event a virtual challenge. The virtual walk/run is a fun and interactive way to get up and move safely during this time while still honoring and supporting our friends, family and all those who have or are currently facing the fight against breast cancer.
Whether you choose to walk or run, we encourage you to register for this year’s Pink Up The Pace Virtual Challenge. Being active and healthy is a preventative measure in reducing the risk of cancer. So, commit to do a certain mileage for the month of October, log it on runsignup.com and see your progress amongst the community and friends. Join us in PINKING UP the month of October with this virtual challenge.
With it being our 12th year the following are suggestions to get you started
Beginner (no experience) 12 miles
Novice (some experience) 24 miles
Intermediate 48 miles
Advanced 60 miles
You have the month of October to accomplish whatever goal you set.
To join in the fun, take pictures of yourself in your best pink paraphernalia, walking, jogging or running and post it to the Pink Up The Pace Virtual Challenge on our Facebook or Instagram page and tag it with #PUTP2020 and share the names of those who you walk for this year. Pink Up The Pace board members will pick the best 5 pictures at the end of the month and have the community vote for the top 3 winners to receive a prize. Registration is available now through October at runsignup.com.
Even with everything going on, our commitment to supporting patients and our community does not stop during these critical times. There is a continued need for breast cancer awareness and detection through imaging services we provide.
The 2020 Pink Up The Pace Virtual Challenge looks forward to you fulfilling your goals and sharing your journey with us during the month of October. At the end you will receive your shirt celebrating your accomplishment:
Hope - Health - Challenge with PUTP 2020!
Thank you for your continued support of our event. We are incredibly grateful to each one of you. There is no doubt, we are “stronger together.”
