Lace up your running shoes and get ready to "run the bases" at the Diamond Dash 5k+ hosted by Carsons Tavern on February 2, 2019.  The beneficiaries of this year’s Diamond Dash event will be the East Stuart Baseball Initiative/Sailfish Park and the Sam Shaw Foundation.

Participants will begin the race on the Stuart public beach, make their way across a pair of bridges and end at Carsons Tavern to begin the festivities. The post-race party will feature refreshments; music and the awards ceremony.  The course is 3.25 miles (5K+), is USATF sanctioned and features chip timing by MCM Timing & Results. Awards will be given to the overall male/female winners and to the top three males/females in each age category. The first 300 registered runners will receive a long-sleeve shirt. This event will close once it reaches 500 runners and it will SELL OUT!

Baseball continues to grow as the sport of choice among youngsters in the East Stuart community.  Over the past 8 years, through the East Stuart Baseball Initiative – a private-public partnership between the City of Stuart, Martin County North Little League, and ME’s Team Foundation -- more than 400 new players from East Stuart have participated in Little League programs.  Less than a decade ago, there were no baseball teams from East Stuart. This resurgence of baseball in our community has highlighted the vital need for updated and safer facilities.   For this reason, Northstars Baseball, Inc., a non-profit organization founded to promote baseball and softball in Martin County, has launched a campaign to raise funds that will allow for fields at Guy Davis and Sailfish Parks to continue to receive much-needed improvements. These improvements will enhance participation as we make a statement of support for young athletes in East Stuart.

The Sam Shaw Foundation provides scholarships to high school senior athletes, who are in need of funding to further their education.
