Description
The 49th Annual Palace Saloon is the oldest and fastest race in Tallahassee.
This a point-to-point race. While the finish line takes place at the Palace Saloon, parking, and the race start are at the James Messer Sports Complex.
Program your GPS to 2800 Jackson Bluff Rd. for the Start and for Public Parking (free) at Messer Field.
Registration Fees and Packet Pickup
Packet Pickup
Early packet pickup is at the Palace Saloon, 1303 Jackson Bluff Road, on Wednesday, April 17, 3-6 p.m. If you miss early packet pickup, you may check in on race morning at Messer Field beginning at 6:30 a.m.
Registration Fees
- By March 24, - $15, no shirt; $20 with shirt
- March 25 - April 17 - $20, no shirt; $25 with shirt
- April 18 - April 20 - $30 (shirts are not guaranteed)
- Members of GWTC will receive a $4 discount at checkout.
- Virtual participants - $15, no shirt; $20 with shirt
Shirts sizes are guaranteed through April 17.
Virtual Runners
Virtual runners may pick up their race shirt (if ordered) at packet pickup on Wednesday or on race day.

Finish Line Recovery
Finish line recovery food courtesy of Jackson Properties, and adult beverages courtesy of the Palace Saloon and Gulf Winds Track Club. Live music at the finish. Race results posted on site and uploaded to the Gulf Winds Track Club website post-race.

Champions Awards
Custom beer mugs & monetary awards will be presented to:
- The overall first male and first female
- Masters (40+) male and female
- Grandmasters (50+) male and female.
All awards are donated by Gulf Winds Track Club.

Age Group Awards
- Custom pint glass awards will be presented to the top 3 in each five-year age group for both male and female, starting with age group 1-9.
Fraternity, Sorority and Club Awards
- An award will be presented to the Fraternity, Sorority and Club with the most finishers. Fraternity, sorority and club members must be registered by April 19 at 6:00 p.m.
Team Competition
The Palace team competition has always been about outright speed. The competition was originally set up with a 7 person MAX team roster where the 5 fastest runners times are added together and the lowest time for the 2 team divisions wins. (Men & Women divisions). Awards will be presented to the top two teams in each division. Team captains must email a team roster to Tim Unger and Peg Griffin by noon on Friday, April 19. This is your last opportunity to change a team roster.
No changes allowed on race day.
Everyone must register individually. Seven-member team rosters must be sent to Race Team Coordinator, Tim Unger, (runner1612@gmail.com), and to Peg Griffin, peggriff91@gmail.com.
The top two teams will each win a case of White Claw Seltzer.

Fraternity, Sorority and Club Awards
An award will be presented to the Fraternity, Sorority and Club with the most finishers. Fraternity, sorority and club members must be registered by April 19 at 6:00 p.m. Fraternity, sorority, or club membership must be listed when registering.
2024 Race Shirt
Race shirts are guaranteed only to runners registered by April 17, 2024.

Take your photo with the Palace Mugman! You will find this backdrop at the finish line to document your completion of the 49th Palace Saloon 5K.
Free Mimosa at Madison Social with Race Bib
Madison social will give one free mimosa to every 21+-year old runner that shows up there with the race number on race day.

The other great benefit of running this local race is contributing to a couple of great charities. We are supporting the University of Florida's Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases and First Tee Tallahassee, First Tee Tallahassee is a youth organization teaching young people positive values such as honesty, integrity, confidence and respect while using the game of golf as a tool. At The First Tee, kids and teens learn to play golf along with life lessons and leadership skills.
The 49th Annual Palace Saloon 5K is sponsored by Gulf Winds Track Club, a completely non-profit, volunteer-led organization. All proceeds from the races support dozens of charitable organizations in our community.
