Due to the Coranus Virus outbreak, we have rescheduled the Palace Saloon 5K to October 24, 2020.  Please review your options, and we hope to see you on October 24.

Due to the seriousness of the COVID-19 situation, and for the safety of all our participants, we have rescheduled the Palace Saloon 5K to April 10, 2021  


Looking for a FAST and FUN 5K?  This is the race for you! The  Palace Saloon 5K is Tallahassee’s oldest and fastest 5K road race. There will be plenty of free adult refreshments at the finish line and during the awards ceremony for participants.  But don’t worry kids, we will have plenty of other drinks, food, and live music at the finish line provided by our great sponsor Gulf Winds Track Club

The Palace Saloon 5K is now in its 46th year. The course may have changed a few times over the years, but we always finish directly in front of The Palace Saloon on Jackson Bluff Rd. Just a couple of blocks from FSU’s Doak Campbell Stadium in the heart of the college district. This makes the perfect backdrop for a fun-filled morning after the race with live music, refreshments, and cold beer!

This a point-to-point race. While the finish line, awards ceremony, and the post-race party takes place at the Palace Saloon,  parking, and the race start are at the James Messer Sports Complex,. Program your GPS to 2800 Jackson Bluff Rd. for the Start and for Public Parking (free) at Messer Field. There is no public parking at the finish.


THERE IS NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION. Race bibs and shirts that were preordered online are available for race day morning pickup beginning at 7:45 am at the start line location.

Because there is no Race Day registration you must register online before midnight on Friday, April 9.  If you prefer paper registration, then come to the early registration/ packet pickup at the Palace Saloon on Thursday, April 8, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and you can register via paper registration, pay, and pick up a shirt (if desired), at that time.  Be mindful that race shirts are ordered about 10 days in advance. We always order extra shirts for volunteers and last-minute runners, but late decisions risk not getting your preferred shirt size. In other words, register early if you want a guaranteed shirt size.


Champions Awards

Custom beer mugs & monetary awards (CASH) will be presented to:

  • The overall first male and first female
  • Masters (40+) male and female
  • Grandmasters (50+) male and female.

All awards are donated by Gulf Winds Track Club.

  • $50. Male and Female


Grand Masters Champion
  • $50. Male and Female
Age Group Awards
  • Custom pint glass awards will be presented to the top 5 in each five-year age group for both male and female
Team Awards
  • The Palace team competition has always been about outright speed. The competition was originally set up with a 7 person MAX team roster where the 5 fastest runners times are added together and the lowest time for the 2 team divisions wins. (Men & Women divisions).We award the top two teams in each division as we have in years past.
Team Competition

Team registration deadline is Thursday, April 8th at the close of early packet pick-up. Ideally, this needs to be the last opportunity to change a team roster….but we can be somewhat flexible with that deadline…with enough notice to enter the team into the database.

NO day of race changes allowed. Period. End of discussion. 
Everyone must register individually. Seven member team rosters must be sent to Race Team Coordinator, Tim Unger, (runner1612@gmail.com), and to Peg Griffin, peggriff91@gmail.com.

The other great benefit of running this local race is contributing to a couple of great charities. We are supporting the Parkinson's Foundation Rock Steady Boxing program and  Javacya Arts Conservatory.  Please donate generously.
