Description

Start your 2023 race season with Red Hills Triathlon! On April 8, 2023, we will still be offering the same challenging, great, hilly course with the Red Hills Triathlon Sprint & the "Time to TRI" Super Sprint!  We are here to help you through every step as you explore the sport of triathlon. Maybe you have been out of the sport for a few years and are looking to dive back in. Start right here!

Do you already have a little race experience under your belt and looking for something a little more challenging.  Check out the RED HILLS TRIATHLON-SPRINT!  Tallahassee is known for explosions of springtime floral blooms and Alfred B Maclay State Park is the best place in town to witness nature's beauty. A partnership with the Friends of Maclay Gardens, allows Red Hills Triathlon access to this beautiful state park for one Saturday every year.
The Park's recreation area provides the venue for the transition area. The 1/3 mile swim takes place in the fresh waters of Lake Hall. Water temperatures are normally in the low 70's. Hit the bike course and travel the scenic paved hills of northern Tallahassee for TWO, 9.6-mile loops (~19.3 total miles). The 5k run takes place inside the Park. The run course is mostly paved, but does include a 1 mile segment of off-road trail.

Time to Tri Super Sprint will take place on the same course in the later waves of Red Hills Sprint. After swimming 1/4 mile in Lake Hall, you will then cycle ONE loop, 9.6 miles, of the Red Hills course, followed by an out and back, paved 2 mile run!

Red Hills Triathlon continues fundraising efforts for the ALS Therapy Development Institute. ALS has claimed the lives of several Gulf Winds members and it is time for us to do our part to find treatments for this insidious disease. ALS is not an incurable disease. It is an underfunded disease. Please consider a donation or better yet, start a fundraiser and earn a free entry! To learn more about ALS TDI, https://www.als.net

  • Finishers will receive a commemorative medal.
  • Red Hills Triathlon awards for Overall (1-3), Masters Champion, Grand Masters Champion, 5-year Age Groups and Clydesdale/Athena (1-3)
  • Time to Tri Sprint - First place Overall Champion, First place 5-year Age Groups, First Clydesdale/Athena

Bike Course w/Video

Please do NOT attempt to ride this bike course in advance of the event. Traffic is heavy on these roadways during most times of everyday. If you are coming from out of town, you may want to DRIVE the bike course to get better idea of the scale of the hills.
