Tarpon Springs Triathlon Virtual Race 2020
After our intense effort to host the actual Tarpon Triathlon this year and with great cooperation from the Rotary Club, our triathlon staff, and Pinellas County, the decision was made by the City of Tarpon Springs that they will not be issuing the permit for us to host the actual event on September 19, 2020, and all registrations have been moved to the virtual category AND transferred free of charge into the September 11, 2021, Tarpon Springs Rotary Triathlon.
How to Complete The Virtual Race:
1. You have from now until September 30, 2020, to complete the distance of the race in the location of your choice on your own. For triathlon it is a quarter mile swim (400 yards either in the open water or in a pool which would equal 8 laps or 16 lengths of the pool), a 10 mile cycling ride in a safe location of your choice, and a 5K run/walk (3.1 miles). Do them all together but we do not need you to calculate your transition times. You could do this during one of our Sundays team workouts. You are able to use the pool at Tarpon Total Fitness just by showing the front desk proof of your race registration via screenshot on your phone. We provide lockers as well so you may also use their spin bikes and treadmill if you’d like to complete your race entirely at Tarpon Total Fitness. For duathlon the distances are a 1.55 mile run/10 mile bike/3.1 mile run. And the Aqua Bike is a 400 yard swim and 10 mile run
2. Once you have completed your race, add your 3 times together to calculate your complete race time and submit that time before September 30, 2020, by email to Celia@TarponTotalFitness.com Please make note of your category with the submission of your times (i.e. age group triathlon, Clydesdale (men who weigh over 220 lbs), Athena(women who weigh over 160 lbs), duathlon category (duathlon distances are 1.55 milw run/10 mile bike/3.1 mile run) or aquabike. All times will be compiled and top 3 finisher’s will receive to TOP FINISHER’S award frame.
3. Pick up your packet (and award if you earned one) any day in the month of October 2020 from the front desk at Total Fitness (call ahead or check their website for hours of operation). Your packet will include your finisher’s medal, race shirt and be sure to take one of the TOP FINISHER awards if you earned it based on those who submitted their times. It’s all on the honor system folks so the awards will be there FOR YOU! If you have questions as to if you get an award make sure you get an answer from Celia@tarpontotalfitness.com before picking up your packet.
4. Be proud of yourselves. YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE. Each of us has suffered so many defeats this year but we WILL rise up and YOU WILL FINISH the race. You are supporting the scholarship community and your finisher’s medal means a child is attending a continuing education program with more support than they would have received if you didn’t register!
Thank you for your support of our race and our efforts to raise funds to award scholarships tp local students.

Description
The Tarpon Springs Triathlon is an annual favorite for seasoned as well as novice triathletes. For over 30 years our race has been presented by the Rotary Club of Tarpon Springs and helped raise funds to award over 325 partial scholarships and over 115 full paid college tuition scholarships. Our race starts and finishes in our pristine Fred Howard Park. For the safety of our racers we close the park to all vehicular traffic from 7am-10am. We host a great post race party with free food, refreshments, beer, and give away over $5,000 in prizes. We award 5 deep in each age group.
Thank you for supporting our race,
