The Frederick Market Street Mile caters to runners and walkers of all abilities. There is an event for everyone. Here are a few questions that we seem to get fairly frequently. If you're still wondering about something, just send us an email and we'll be happy to help.
It's easy! Just go to https://www.frederickmarketstreetmile.com/results and click Submit Virtual Results. This article has more detailed instructions. Or if you get stuck, send email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll help you out. NOTE: results must be submitted by Sep 20 for the 1 mile events, and by Oct 31 for the challenges.
We can’t wait to see your photos! Please post and tag #frederickmsm on your own social media, on our facebook event, or on the results page. If you can get a photo on the run by a covered bridge, that would be really cool!
No. You can run, jog, or walk anywhere (road, trail, treadmill, etc).
4 times around a track is 1600 meters, not quite a mile. If you're running on a track, be please aware that 1 mile is 9.34 meters (30' 8") further than 4 trips around. Please use your best judgement on where the real finish is.
You're on the honor system to track and record your miles. You can plan your routes using tools like MapMyRun, which has a free course creation tool.
You have about a week to complete the 1 mile event (Sep 12-20), and you need to submit your results by Sunday Sep 20 midnight. The runs for the challenges must be completed Sep 1 thru Oct 31, and all results must by entered by Oct 31 midnight.
Yes, for the challenges -- if you register for one of the challenges, you also get a medal with your registration!
For the 1 mile events the shirt is a separate purchase. We are trying to keep the race as affordable as possible. Our price for the shirts is very close to their actual cost. You can see from that if we included them with the race fee it would significantly increase the price of the race itself. We do hope you decide to buy the shirt, but we want to give you the option to run this race with as small a cash outlay as possible.
We will be ordering all of the shirts at the same time, around Sept 30. So your size will be guaranteed if you register and pick a size by Sep 29. We should receive these by Oct 16 and will start mailing them out that week. So you'll most likely receive your shirt by the end of October, if not earlier.
The Family Mile is meant to cover up to five members of an immediate family of adults/children for a single registration fee. If you have an extended family that would like to participate together, you will need to register as separate families or as additional individuals in the Adult Mile which takes place at the same time as the Family Mile. Note there's no way to submit results for the Family Mile.
We give the option to pay a low family rate for up to five members of a family registering for the Family Mile. When registering the family, they all need to be in the same "team" so that the family is grouped together. When you register the first family member, you'll be given the opportunity to create the team. Give the team a fun name, or just use your family name. When you register additional family members, you'll need to add them to the team you created. Up to four additional members members are charged $0 when registered this way. Please see the question above, this is meant for adults and children of an immediate family.
You can check the list of registered participants here. You can also get your bib number there.
