FAQ

  1. What is the Frozen Feet Challenge? You walk, run, hike, snowshoe, or cross-country ski one mile or more outside every day for 6 weeks. All miles must be outdoors.
  2. How do I log my miles? Log your miles on the RunSignup page. You must enter your miles manually—no automatic syncing. You may upload GPX, FIT, or TCX files if you’d like.
  3. When should I log my miles? Log miles daily or weekly. Logging immediately after your activity gives the best success rate.
  4. What if I registered someone else? Make sure the registration uses their email address, not yours, so they can log miles and receive updates.
  5. Can I join or create a team?  Yes. You may join or create a team during registration. Teams make the challenge more fun and help with accountability.
  6. What if the weather is bad? Most weather counts—dress appropriately. A “mulligan day” will only be issued if conditions are truly unsafe. You’ll receive an email notification, and it will be posted on Facebook and RunSignup early that morning.
  7. Can I bike or downhill ski for my miles? No. Activities involving wheels or gravity assistance don’t count. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing do count.
  8.  I’m having trouble logging miles. What should I do? Confirm you are signed in with the same email you used to register on RunSignup.
  9. Do sick days count? No sick days are allowed. Missing a day disqualifies you from the challenge, though you're welcome to continue being active when you feel better.
  10. Can I split my mile into multiple sessions during the day? No. Your one-mile requirement must be completed in a single effort.
  11. Can I bank miles for future days? No. You cannot save or “bank” miles. The challenge is one mile per day (or more).
  12. Can I do more than one mile a day? Yes! For example, if you walk 1 mile in the morning and 0.5 miles later, you may log 1.5 total miles for that day.
  13. Do I have to live in Connecticut to participate? No. Anyone anywhere can join.Note: The free finisher gift is not shipped, but someone may pick it up for you.
