Brandon Hall School and the Brandon Hall Parent Association is thrilled to be holding the inaugural Brandon Haul 5K Race. The race will start and end at the school and the route will take runners through the beautiful Rivergate neighborhood on the Chattahoochee River.
As the primary fundraiser for the 2017-2018 school year, we welcome the opportunity this race brings to open our beautiful campus and foster stronger relationships within our community. Our desire is to bring together local residents, running enthusiasts, and the Brandon Hall School community for a safe and fun activity.
Brandon Hall School is a global boarding and day school whose mission is to challenge students to lead lives of leadership, scholarship, and service. Our community celebrates learning, fosters global citizenship, embraces diversity, encourages athleticism and artistic expression, and inspires students to find their path and lead the way.
The 5K will start at 8:00 am, beginning on the Brandon Hall campus on the main drive next to the tennis courts. Runners will head down the main drive and take a right onto Brandon Hall Drive until the turnaround in the cul-de-sac where they will head back down Brandon Hall Drive towards Spalding Drive. Runners will turn around near the end of the road and will proceed back on the other side of Brandon Hall Drive and make a right on Habersham Waters Road. Runners will then make a right onto Quiet Waters Road and will make the turn-around at Waterridge Court where runners will head back down Quiet Waters and turn left back onto Habersham Waters Road then take a right turn back to Brandon Hall Drive and into the entrance of the school to the finish line. The course will be well marked with road chalk, volunteers, traffic cones, and police. The Brandon Haul 5K is open to dog runners (dogs MUST be on a leash) and stroller runners but for safety reasons dog and stroller runners will not start until after all runners clear the start line.
Participants will have a timing chip on their bib which assures accurate finish times for each runner. Please note that the race is a Gun-timed race which means that all runners have the exact same start time. If you are a fast runner and going for awards, you need to be towards the front of the pack at the start. We do ask that all walkers and/or runners with strollers/dogs move to the back of the pack. Awards will start at 9:00 am. Awards will be given for top 3 finishers of each age category for Male and Female. We will also award the top overall M & F winners.
The age categories are 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65 and over.
Wicking t-shirts are guaranteed to all registrations received BEFORE 11:59pm, March 7th. Those who sign up on or after March 7th are not guaranteed a race shirt. Any extras will be given out on a first come, first serve basis at the conclusion of the race.
There will be plenty of parking. All parking will be on the Brandon Hall School campus. Please drive in the school entrance and you will be directed to the parking areas. Please make sure you are on campus by 7:45. For runners safety, parking will close 15 minutes prior to the start of the race.
The race will happen rain or shine. Be prepared to run in any weather. Only in the cases of extreme weather will changes to the race schedule occur. Please check the Brandon Hall School Facebook page on race morning for real-time updates on the status of the race if there is severe weather.
Online registration closes at 11:59pm on Wednesday, March 21. After online registration closes you have an opportunity to sign up for the race on race morning at the start/finish line from 6:45 am - 7:45am. It will be cash or credit - $35.
No refunds or transfers from person-to-person or year-to-year. While we understand schedules change and things come up, we have a strict no-refund and transfer policy. Race Management reserves the right to cancel or modify the event due to extreme conditions such as weather. Registration fees are not refundable in the event of the race cancellation due to “Acts of God" or things outside of the control of the Race Director.
PACKET PICK UP
Packet pick up will be held starting at 6:45 am on race morning at the tennis courts next to the start/finish line.
The event will be timed by Elite Race Timing. Each participant will receive a race bib with a timing chip attached to the bib. Results will be provided at the finish line and will be posted to Elite’s website immediately following the race at www.eliteracetiming.com.
We will have one water station on the course at the corner of Brandon Hall Drive and Habersham Waters Road. Runners are also encouraged to bring water bottles with them. Additional water and post-race snacks will be available at the finish line.
Dogs and strollers are allowed on the course but for safety reasons they cannot start until ALL runners and walkers clear the start line. Dogs must be on a leash at all times as required by Fulton County law. Once the start line is clear, we will allow strollers and dogs to start.
In case of an emergency, please immediately notify one of our volunteers or a police officer.
Porta-potty facilities will be available at the start/finish area.
The Brandon Hall School and its volunteers cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items. We do not have a secure area of safekeeping for your personal items. You will be responsible for anything you bring to the race.
