Description
To kick off our inaugural Porchfest, the Virtual Rock & Run 5K will take place for the runners out there looking for a good time!
Dress up as your favorite musician, or get the family to dress up as the whole band on this multi-route suggested virtual 5K throughout the beautiful Virginia-Highland neighborhood. Submit your 5K result through Run Signup. Take a pic and tag us @virginiahighlanddistrict to be featured on our Instagram!
Pick from one of our recommended routes, or run your own wherever you want! To commemorate participating in our very first Porchfest + 5K, you'll get a VaHi tote filled with some great swag - a Porchfest 5K T-shirt, koozie, and sticker.
Run the morning of May 8th and meet Hero’s Donuts and our live DJ, Knock Music House, at the corner of Virginia and Barnett (John Howell Park) from 8:30-11am (music beginning at 9). Enjoy a sweet treat (participants are treated to a free donut) and coffee, and cornhole. Join us from 12-6pm to enjoy a full day of food, music, and fun at the first annual Virginia Highland Porchfest! More details on the full Porchfest event can be found here.
Swag bags will be available for pick up at John Howell Park. Runners who pick up their swag the morning of the race from 8:30-11am will also receive a race bib. After 11am on May 8th, swag bags will be available for pickup until 3pm at the Porchfest volunteer check-in booth. Register today!
Beneficiary
Porchfest + Rock & Run 5k benefits the Virginia Highland District Association and its mission to invest in the vitality of the North Highland Avenue business corridor. All money raised is used to design, develop, and implement strategies of community engagement, beautification, and economic research & development. Thank you for your contribution!
Where Should I Run?
Runners have the option of picking up their swag bags starting at 8:30 AM at John Howell Park on Saturday, May 8th. Both route options below start and end at the Park. Runners that complete one of these routes on Saturday morning will enjoy an end-of-race celebration featuring a sweet treat from Hero's Donuts, coffee, and our live DJ, Knock Music House from 9:00-11:00. Runners picking up after 11:00 AM can pick up their swag bags at the PorchFest Volunteer check-in (also at John Howell Park). We hope to see you on theThis is a virtual event. As such, runners and walkers can use any 5K course of their choosing. Participants can submit their race times between May 2nd and May 8th.
