"See You At The Finish Line" Turkey Trot - Cancelation
Hi there,
I am reaching out with some unfortunate news regarding the “See You At The Finish Line” Turkey Trot scheduled for Saturday, November 15th in Ball Ground.
After my city event permit was already approved for a noon start time, the city let me know this week that this timeframe will not work due to issues with road closures. Unfortunately, this change came after many participants had already registered. The chip timing company that I am currently contracted with is also unable to accommodate the change due to another race they have that morning.
Because of these factors outside of my control, I will have to cancel this year’s race. All participants will receive a full refund, which will be processed back to your original payment method. This goes for all donations as well. Please allow a week’s time in order for me to get these fully processed.
If you feel led to still support The ALS Association, you may make a fully tax-deductible donation through their website here.
I’d still love for us to come together on the same day/time at Calvin Farmer Park (235 Old Dawsonville Rd.). I will be doing an honorary walk in honor of my late mother, and all others who have been affected by ALS. Please note that this is a casual walk and not an organized race or event. Should you decide to join, I encourage you to wear RED. I have around 20 red shirts leftover (size L and XL) from the first time I hosted “See You At The Finish Line” in my hometown in Alabama. These are free & first come/first serve, and you are welcome to take it home with you.
I can’t thank you enough for your support and commitment to this event. While this year did not go as planned, my goal is to bring “See You At The Finish Line” back next year, under better circumstances. I truly hope you’ll join me then.
Thank you for understanding, and please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions about your refund.
With appreciation,
Shelby Ebert

ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's), is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. It affects the body's ability to walk, talk, move, and eventually breathe. ALS is a fatal disease and there is currently no cure. Every 90 minutes, someone is diagnosed with the disease, and someone passes away from it. Your participation and efforts will go directly towards the fight to END ALS.
START/FINISH LINE is in front of the Ball Ground Library (435 Old Canton Rd.). RACE BEGINS AT NOON.
Join us for AWARDS & fun at City Park (177 Old Dawsonville Rd.), following the race.
Ball Ground, GA is a quaint, welcoming town, nestled in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains. Please make sure to visit our local shops & restaurants located walking distance from the race's end.
Race Background
Hi there!
My name is Shelby Ebert. I hosted my first "See You At The Finish Line" 5K in 2022, in my home state of Alabama. The race began as a way to bring awareness of ALS to my community, and also to raise money to help with medical expenses for my mom, who has since passed away from ALS. My husband and I now live in Ball Ground, GA, where I plan to continue the race in honor of my mom, Becky DiGangi.
Becky served as a Labor & Delivery nurse at RMC Anniston for 29 years. She was an avid runner, competing in several races around the Southeast. Running brought her special friendships that would ultimately make the hobby as important to her as it was. Her love for running inspired me to become a runner myself.
Her diagnoses came as a shock to our family and our community. My goal for this race is to bring awareness to the disease, as many are not aware of what it entails, while also bringing the opportunity to come together, laugh, and build new friendships, as my mom loved to do.
