Team Tagg Autism Awareness 5K

What is Team Tagg?
When our son Taggert was born in 2009 we had no idea the challenges we would soon face. All through Amy’s pregnancy everything seemed normal. Nothing presented in utero to indicate any issues. However two hours after birth we were presented with news that no parents ever want to hear. Taggert was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, a heart defect, and we would later find out he also suffered from tracheal stenosis and bronchial and tracheal malacia. It was not until Tagg was 7 that we were told he fell on the Autism spectrum.

As overwhelming as all of this was to process we quickly realized one thing…we were not alone. Family, friends, and medical staff quickly created a support system that cannot be put into words. Shortly after Taggert was born; Team Tagg was born as well.

On many occasions Amy, myself, Emery and Taggert have been incredulous by the gracious support and generosity by members of Team Tagg. It is this reason that we want to try and give back. There are many other families dealing with issues like ours. Our goal is to do what we can to let them know they too are not alone.

About the Event

The event will take place on 28 October 2017.  The starting time is 8:00am.

Race Site – Bishop Baptist Church, 1110 Old Bishop Road, Bishop, GA

Awards –Custom handmade awards for Top 3 in each age group (M/F), Top 3 overall (M/F), and First Place Masters (M/F).  There will also be an award for best costume.

Course – The course will be a flat and fast out and back on Old Bishop Road.

All race proceeds will be donated to Butterfly Dreams Farm.  Butterfly Dreams Farm is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization where therapists and instructors utilize horses as powerful therapy partners, leveraging their gaits and natural empathic abilities to help riders achieve a variety of treatment outcomes.
