The Red & Blue 5k scheduled for Saturday morning, June 25 at 8am
Getting Here:
We're racing from Riverside Military Academy through the historic Riverside Drive area along Lake Lanier. The school has plenty of parking!
Packet Pickup:
Packet pickup takes place Saturday morning starting at 7am. T-shirts, bibs and timing chips will be provided. This is a chip-timed race. Results will be posted online by our friends at Runners Fit Race Works here: RESULTS
Course:
The race begins at 8:00am. The 5k course is a single loop with the start and finish at the same location. The first half takes you uphill on Riverside Drive, down Blue Ridge Drive, left onto Virginia Avenue, around the American legion and finishing uphill to the finish at Riverside Military Academy. A motorcycle will lead the course with Gainesville Police providing traffic safety. There is one aid station halfway through the race and refreshments will be available after the race.
Awards:
Awards will be given to the first 3 finishers for both men and women. The awards ceremony will take place at 9am. Results will be posted online as well as on social media.
Description
As part of the 2022 Georgia Police & Fire Games, hosted by the City of Gainesville June 20-26, the public is encouraged to sign up for the Red & Blue 5K and walk or run alongside Georgia’s community heroes: participating firefighters and law enforcement officers. The 5K is slated for 8 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at Riverside Military Academy.
“While we’re thrilled to welcome public safety personnel from all over Georgia to participate in the games, we’re equally excited to open the Red & Blue 5K to the public,” said Gainesville Tourism Director Robyn Lynch. “Several of the games will be open to spectators wishing to cheer on their favorite athlete(s) and department(s), but this unique opportunity will enable the community to get involved and experience part of the games for themselves.”
