For The Love Of Music Virtual 5K

And the story starts here...

The students are summoned to the band room for an announcement. They find out that they have been invited to march in the 130th running of The Tournament of Roses Parade on January 1st 2019!! Excitement is everywhere!! A true once in a lifetime experience that no one wants to miss!! Unfortunately, all checkbooks are not created equal. This is where we come in and this is where we need your help!

The per student cost to make the trip to Pasadena for the 2019 Tournament of Roses Parade is approximately $3000.  Some parents are able to write a single check to cover the cost or use a credit card.  Others are able to crunch the numbers and set up a monthly payment plan.  And some, however, just cannot make this happen for their child.  Single parent households are definitely impacted.  As much as they wish they could make this happen for their child, they simply cannot afford it.

The hours of preparation that are put into a single marching season are huge! Practices are 3 nights a week after school and some Saturday's that are 12 hour days.  Playing and marching under the Friday Night Lights also prepare the kids for their show.  These kids are a family! They laugh, cry and scream together. They are proud to be in the band and wouldn't trade it for anything.  The bond they have is undeniable.  

Every child in the marching band deserves this trip, this experience, this moment with their bandmates!

FUNDRAISING EFFORTS HAVE STARTED IN THE COMMUNITY WITH THE GOAL OF OFFSETTING THE COST PER STUDENT.  EVEN WITH THESE EFFORTS, SOME STUDENTS STILL MAY NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD THIS TRIP.

For The Love of Music Virtual 5K hopes to be able to provide the full funds for 3 students who's parents are not able to make it happen. There are 3 ways you can help sponsor the trip for these kids. If we raise more than the necessary costs to send these 3 children to Pasadena then we will donate the rest of the proceeds to the general band fund to help others afford the cost.

1. You can participate in the Virtual 5K.  All funds above the cost of the medals and shipping go directly to the kids. 
2. If a 5k is not for you, a donation is another way you can help.  The full amount of the donation will be applied directly to the cost of the trip. 
3. And finally, if you want to participate in the 5K but still want to give more, you can opt to do both!
