In 2021, Maxeys Model Mile was the first official 5K to be held along the Firefly Trail. We are excited to present the 2023 Maxeys Model Mile 5K. This is the 5th Annual Maxeys Model Mile. Come and celebrate this milestone with us! The race will start and finish along the Firefly Trail. Registration takes place along the Firefly Trail near the corner of Hwy 77 and Laurel Street.

The 5K starts on Laurel Lane, adjacent to the Firefly Trail and runs through the lovely countryside of the Maxeys community. The race runs the last mile on the Maxeys Model Mile to the finish line.
The Maxeys Model Mile 5K is a founding member of the Firefly Trail Race Series. The Firefly Trail is a planned 39-mile rail-trail from Athens to Union Point in Northeast Georgia, connecting Athens-Clarke, Oglethorpe, and Greene Counties. The historic rail line, known as the Athens Branch of the Georgia Railroad, branched off the still-active Augusta-to-Atlanta line in Union Point and passed through the towns of Woodville, Maxeys, Stephens, Crawford, Arnoldsville and Winterville on its way to Athens.
Awards are given to Overall Male / Female, Masters Male/Female, GrandMasters Male/Female and the following Male / Female Age Groups:
5-year age groups: 10 and Under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and Over
Run your 3.1 miles anywhere. Submit your finish time by clicking on the RESULTS tab at the top of this page or using this link: https://runsignup.com/maxeysmodelmile5k/results . Submit finish times no later than 12 noon on April 29. To submit a virtual time you must be registered as a virtual runner.
Virtual runners are not eligible for race day awards.
The Maxeys Model Mile 5K is proud to be a member of the Black Bag Race Series and Clover Glove Race Series and the Firefly Trail Race Series.
