EVENT DESCRIPTION:

The oldest race in Rome, and one of the oldest races in Georgia history, the 39th running of this fun yet challenging 5K winds through historic downtown Rome and climbs historic Clocktower Hill in the second mile before finishing with a view of the Coosa River in Heritage Park.  Both the 5K and the 2-mile Health Walk courses are quite scenic, as they take in much of the "Between the Rivers" district of beautiful downtown Rome.  Short sleeve Gildan Softstyle tee-shirts are guaranteed to runners and walkers registered by midnight, August 7th.  Proceeds go to the Exchange Club Family Resource Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse.

     

 NEW START LINE THIS YEAR!  Our old Start Line was right in the middle of the construction to reroute 2nd Avenue, so it had to be moved.  As fate would have it, this is also the year for our USATF Course Certification to be renewed, so we moved the Start Line just around the corner to West 3rd Street, and had the course recertified.  It is still mostly the same great course.  Parking will still be behind the levee, and we will go to the Start Line as a group.

    

We are pleased to be part of the Atlanta Journal Constitution Peachtree Road Race Qualifier Program!  Your race time this year can be used as a qualifying time for the 2025 Peachtree Road Race.

5K RACE COURSE: 

Both events start and end in Heritage Park.  Race starts on West 3rd Street, runs through Historic Downtown Rome ascending the iconic Clocktower hill of course, and finishes on the Levee of Heritage Park.

The 5K course is certified by USATF, course number: GA24030WC

The 5K will be chip-timed by Wire2Wire Running; the 2 mile Health Walk will be non-competitive.

REGISTRATION DETAILS:

Pre-registration is also offered through August 7, 2024.

• By mail and must be postmarked by July 19, 2024*
• 5K is $30
• 2 Mi is $25
• *NOTE the PRICE INCREASES AFTER JULY 19th....
  July 20th -through August 7th: 5K is $35; 2 Mile is $30. 

Late Registration...

• August 8th through August 13th:  5K & 2 Mile are $40.  Tee-shirts are not guaranteed.
• Registration will close at 11:59PM on August 13th and will not reopen until Race Day.
• Race Day registration will be $40 for both 5K & 2 Mile.  Tee-shirts are not guaranteed.

Group Discount:
 Teams of 10 or more (any combination of run & walk) receive a discount of $3 per person.
 Registrations for each team must all be submitted together no later than August 7, 2024. 

PRE-RACE PACKET PICKUP:

Participants may pick up race packets and bibs on Friday, August 16th, from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at First United Methodist Church of Rome Wilder Center, 202 East 3rd Ave, Rome, GA 30161.

5K AWARDS:

     We've got some really cool awards planned!

1st place Overall (Male and Female)

1st Place Masters (Male & Female)

1st Place Grandmasters (Male & Female)

1st, 2nd, & 3rd in each of the following Age Groups: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 & older.

Also, a special award will be given to the Youngest Finisher and the Oldest Finisher of the 5K.

       NOTE: The 2 Mile Health Walk will be for health and fun; no awards will be given for the 2 Mi. walk.

 

PARKING: 

Plenty of parking is available at Heritage Park and the adjoining Riverview Park near the ballfields.
