Description
Get out of the city and join us for the first annual Soil Mates Trail Race. Run on beautiful trails with fresh air, fun running mates, and no pavement over rich Georgia soil. Running on soil is good for the soul and your soles!
Whether you're a road runner who is trail curious, a seasoned trail runner, or a weekend hiker, this race offers options for all levels. The course runs through a family-owned working cattle farm in middle Georgia (between Macon and Columbus) that has been in the family for nearly 200 years. The start/finish point of the 3.1-mile loop is in a large open pasture with plenty of room for free parking and crew set-up along the course. Most of the trail runs through pastures with a five-foot path cut through the grass. The 1.2 miles of forest trails are beautiful single tracks with plenty of twists, turns, roots, and rocks to keep your attention focused. Keep an eye out for cows, deer, rabbits, armadillos, and turkeys as we gain 220 feet of elevation each loop over runnable hills and flat sections.
All three distances start together at 9:00 am. The 5k runners will run one lap. The 15k runners will run 3 laps and the 50k runners will get to run 10 laps. All runners must finish before the 9-hour cut-off for your results to count.
This is a cupless race. Please bring your own handheld water bottle and/or hydration pack. Water refills will be available near the start/finish area and mid-way through the course.
Race swag includes awards for the first male and female finisher in each race, a long-sleeve shirt for all runners, and a meal ticket (choice of tacos, fajitas, or nachos, a $10 value) for all the 15k and 50k runners from Gaby Cakes and Catering. 5k runners and guests will have access to the food truck to purchase food after 10:30 am.
