Run the Swamp: A South Georgia Tradition
Join us for a cross-country adventure at the 49th Annual Swamp Run, held at Okefenokee Swamp Park in Waycross. One of the longest continuously running races in South Georgia, this beloved event invites runners to experience a mostly dirt, trail-style course.
The race begins and ends inside Okefenokee Swamp Park—yes, with indoor bathrooms at the start and finish. Expect natural terrain, wide-open scenery, and a course that rewards both effort and curiosity.
Proceeds benefit Okefenokee Swamp Park, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to fostering a deep connection with nature and conserving its ecological health through stewardship, education, and outdoor recreation in and around the Okefenokee.
FREE PARK ADMISSION to all participants ($18 value) and a high quality preformance t-shirt.

Okefenokee Swamp Run 10k Trail Route
Harkening back to the early days, the race starts and finishes at the Okefenokee Swamp Park. The start heads out the paved Swamp Park Road. Turns right onto dirt forest service roads into the Dixon Memorial State Forest. The race is primarily on service roads wide enough for ATV's and Cars, so you should not have to worry too much about roots and such. However, depending on rain, there could be water and mud. The race ends back up on the paved Swamp Park Road, for a fast dash to the finish line!
