The 37th Annual Crawfish Festival is a family oriented event and offers something for all ages from children's amusements to arts & crafts, to cloggers, square dancers and live bands. The Doreen Myers 5k Run/Walk kicks off the events on Saturday morning with a beautiful run through Woodbine, the boardwalk, and finishing at the Satilla Waterfront Park by the banks of the Satilla River. Proceeds from the Doreen Meyers 5k benefits Safe Harbor Children’s Advocacy Centers in Camden, Glynn, and Wayne counties.
Proceeds from the race benefit the Safe Harbor Children's Advocacy Center.
Safe Harbor’s Children’s Advocacy Centers serve an important role throughout the Brunswick judicial Circuit in identifying and prosecuting child abuse, and helping victims heal from their traumatic experiences. Safe Harbor Children’s Advocacy Centers are safe, child-focused environments for children who disclose sexual assault, physical abuse, neglect, or have observed violence and/or abuse of another person. To reduce the trauma of victims and their families, the centers utilize a multidisciplinary team approach for the identification, investigation, prosecution, treatment, and prevention of child abuse.
The overarching goals of our programs are to:
Minimize the trauma experienced by children and adolescents who have been identified as victims of sexual or physical abuse
Improve the investigation and prosecution of sexual and physical abuse cases from the point of intervention through to treatment and healing
Promote interagency collaboration for effective decision making and management of sexual and physical abuse cases
Prevent further and/or future abuse of child victims
Provide training to professionals in the field of investigation, prosecution, and provision of services for sexually and physically abused children and adolescents and their non-offending caretakers.
