Gene's Beer Mile Details
A Beer Mile Overview
A beer mile is a one-mile race combining running and beer drinking. The race consists of four beers and four loops. At the beginning of each loop, the participant must drink one beer in the designated area, then complete the quarter-mile loop. The beer must be completed before starting each loop. If a participant vomits at any time during the race, that person must complete one additional quarter-mile penalty loop without an additional beer. A maximum of one quarter-mile penalty loop will be assessed per person.
The beer comsumed in the beer mile must be a 12 oz beer of at least 5% ABV. Usually participants bring their own beer selection in can or bottle. The Gene's Beer Mile will provide beer as part of the registration. Participants of the Gene's Beer Mile may select between two of Morgantown's local brewery, Chestnut Brew Works', finest light beers. The Lucky Lucy at 5.1% ABV is a crisp refreshing lager brewed to celebrate Gene's Beer Garden's 80th anniversy and named after Morgantown's favorite bartender Lucy. Dad Jokes at 5.2% is an Appalachian pilsner that celebrates those hard-working dads and their corny sense of humor.

Run up Wats Alley and turn left onto Kingwood Street. Run up Kingwood Street and turn left on Wilson Avenue headed towards Gene's. The beer and immediately following quarter mile loop must be completed by the same person. No designated beer drinker and designater lap runner! The last lap concludes when the last team member crosses the timing mat.
