FAQs
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (On Revised Course)
Q. Why is the course changing just a few weeks before race day?
A. Part of the course was torn up last weekend as part of the ongoing highway construction at 1604 & IH10. Neither the Parks Department nor SARR was notified that part of the trail would be removed and inaccessible for several weeks. We started making revised plans as soon as we found out.
Q. Will there still be 5 legs to the relay?
A. Yes, there will still be 5 legs but the distances of each leg has changed from the original course. You will need to review the new course and relay legs to determine if you need to reassign your team members.
Q. What are the main differences between the original and revised course?
A. The start line has moved from the Mainland Trailhead to The Rim Trailhead. We are still running on the Salado Creek Greenway but will be incorporating some different sections than the original course. The race still finishes at the McAllister Dog Park.
Q. Are there any advantages to this new course?
A. Yes! The course is now mostly downhill Also, it should be easier to drive to and from the different relay spots since they are located closer together.
Q. Are there any new features on this new course?
A. Yes! We have added another hill for Legs 3 and 5, but it’s much shorter than the hill for Leg 1. Also, Legs 3 and 5 will be running across the Boardwalk, which is a wooden bridge across a marsh – very scenic but be careful, it can get slippery when damp.
Q. If I don’t like this new course, can I get a refund?
A. Since this change was out of our control, we are not offering refunds. Your team will get the same distance and same fun experience as the original course.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (General)
Q. Do I have to have 5 runners on my team?
A. No, you can have anywhere from 2 to 5 runners per team.
Q. If I have less than 5 runners, is my team eligible for category awards?
A. Yes, all teams are available for awards. However, it is assumed that teams with more runners will have an advantage over teams with fewer runners.
Q. If I have less than 5 runners does that mean some of my runners have to run more than one leg?
A. Yes, all teams have to run the 26.2 miles but you decide which of your runners run which legs. For example, if you have 3 runners on your team you may want to have Runner A run Legs 1 & 2, Runner B run Legs 3 & 4, and Runner C run Leg 5. Alternatively, you could have Runner A run Legs 1 & 4, Runner B run Legs 2 & 5, and Runner C run Leg 3. Whatever works best for your team.
