FAQ

What time does my race start?
- The Half Marathon & 10k will start at 7:30 a.m.
- The 5k Run will start at 7:45 a.m.
What time should I arrive?
- We suggest arriving no later than 7:00 a.m.
Where is the start line?
- Located in Bay Shore Marina Park 142 S Clinton Ave, Bay Shore, NY 11706, next to the first carparking lot on your right when you enter the park.
Where are the restrooms located?
- Park restrooms are open. There are also alot of porto johns near the finishline area.

Where is Packet Pick-up?
- September 26th, 2024
  4:00 pm - 7:30 p.m. Bayshore Marina Park/Race Site
- September 27th, 2024

I can't make it to Packet Pick-up. Can a friend pick up my race number?
- Yes, coaches, teammates, friends, or family members to pick up a packet for the participating athlete. The person picking up the packet must have a copy of the athlete’s PHOTO ID.
Can I register at packet pick-up?
- Yes, we will have registration and will accept CREDIT CARD ONLY. However, NO PERSONAL CHECKS will be accepted.

I can’t race, can I get a refund for my entry?
- THERE ARE NO REFUNDS
- RaceAwesome will now allow athletes to defer their entry to the following year's race. This has to be done 7 days prior to Race Day. There is a $10 fee to defer your entry to the following year.
- You can transfer at no cost and at any time to the Virtual Race and your SWAG will be mailed out to you after the Race.
- If the race is canceled or postponed for any reason including a Pandemic / Force Majeure / Acts of God / Acts of Terrorism / Weather etc. all athletes will be transferred to the Virtual Race and your SWAG will be mailed out to you.

Email us at RaceAwesome@RaceAwesome.com and explain your injury. We will then offer you the opportunity to come and VOLUNTEER at the event you registered for. In return for volunteering at the event, we will roll your entry over to the same race the following year at no charge. We don't require a doctor's note, honesty is just fine for us.

Are there cut-off times?
- Yes, for the Half Marathon only.You must maintain a 14-minute mile for the Half Marathon. If you do not make the mile 5.5 (Main Street & South Clinton Ave before 8:45am. This is 1:15 mins after the race starts) I will be directed to the finish line and will only complete the 10k course ***
What is the course elevation?
- Click on the course map links above and use the interactive maps. They have the elevation!
What's on the course for Nutrition? How often are there water stops? Are there portajohns?
- Water stops are roughly every 2 miles and offer water and an electrolyte drink. There are porto Johns located at mile 6 on the half marathon course only.

Can my family/Spectators track me?
- There is no live app tracking for this event.
Are there Timing/split mats?
- Yes, we will have timing mats the Half Marathon only at the 10k mark.
How do I get my results and splits?
- Race results are posted LIVE online at https://runsignup.com/Race/Results/34962#resultSetId-496119 If you signed up for TEXT messaging, they will be sent to you soon after you cross the finish line.
Is the race chip-timed or gun-timed?
- This is a GUN timed event.

Is there a bag check/drop for these events?
- No, we do not offer a bag drop at this event. Please keep your bag locked in your car.

Where can I park in Bay Shore Marina Park?
- You can park in any open lot inside Bay Shore Marina , located at 142 S Clinton Ave, Bay Shore, NY 11706. You can find maps and directions by clicking here. https://runsignup.com/Race/GreatSouthBayRun/Page/PARKING

- Please note the roads in the park will close at 7:15 a.m. and remain closed until the last runner has exited the Marina (around 8:30 a.m.) You will be able to leave, but must use caution and drive slowly.

Can my family/friends see the start of the race?
- YES, spectators are welcome. The start line and finish line are right next to each other.
Can my spectators bring pets?
- Only service animals are allowed.
Can my spectators get into the park after the race starts?
- Yes, only if they park outside and walk in.

How much does the digital athlete photo package cost?
- all photos are FREE
How do I get my AWESOME FREE photos?
- Over 6,000 photos will be taken. They need to be sorted and tagged with bib#'s. They will be available to download by the Wednesday after the race right here on RunSignUp with your results. https://runsignup.com/Race/Photos/NY/BayShore/GreatSouthBayRun
- We will also have candid shots, and these photos will be published on our Facebook and social media pages.
- Be sure that your bib# shows in the photo by placing your bib on your front torso or chest. This way you can easily find your photos with a simple name or bib# search, right here on RunSignUp under the photo's menu tab above! My shirt doesn't fit, can I change sizes?
- You can exchange sizes of unworn shirts after your event/race is complete, ONLY at the RACE-SITE, and only if we have extra shirts!
I decided not to race, can I get my shirt?
- Yes, but only if you come to one of the pickups. We will not mail shirts post-race if you are not in the Virtual Race.
Will I get a finisher medal?
- Yes, all athletes in all events will receive a finisher medal at the finish line.
Who gets an award?
- Top three overall Male and Female. (5k, 10k & Half Marathon)
- Individual Age Groups, TOP 3 in each AGE GROUP (5k, 10k & Half Marathon)

  Challenged, First & Runners Up
- Every athlete at a Race Awesome Event is important, from the first finisher to the final finisher. We encourage all athletes to stay and enjoy the post-race food & beverages and to cheer for the final finisher. The awards ceremony will commence as soon as the final finisher crosses the line.
