Aloha Diaper Bank Diaper Dash

The 2nd Annual Aloha Diaper Bank Diaper Dash is a family friendly event that aims to raise awareness on the issue of diaper need in our island community. Due to Covid-19 and the State of Hawaii mandate on social distancing and gatherings, we will be having a Virtual Diaper Dash. Participants are encouraged to submit their result before September 27th. Virtual Dash is open to children ages 5 year to 18 years old living in Hawaii!  Must have Signed Parental Permission to Participate.

There is NO ENTRY FEE. THIS IS A FREE EVENT! All Dash FINISHERS are automatically entered into a daily random drawing. So, get your entry in before September 27th! Only 1 Entry per person.

HOW DO I START:
1. Create an account on GIVE SIGN UP by clicking on this link >>REGISTER FOR DIAPER DASH  You will need a parent to sign the Parental Permission Waiver. 
2. You can run, jog, dance, or walk in the park, on a treadmill, or anywhere else you choose that is safe. You get to run at your own pace, at your own race and be entered into a daily drawing for prizes.
3. To be entered in the drawing just post a picture of yourself doing a run, walk, dance, or any form of exercise to our FACEBOOK page holding a Sign that reads #alohadiaperdash2020. If you want to be creative you can even upload a short video as your post. Just don't forget to post at our FB site or you won't be eligible for the drawing.
(IMPORTANT) **Facebook requires everyone to be at least 13 years old before they can create an account or post online. Anyone under 14 MUST HAVE THEIR PARENT post on their behalf.

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS:
- ​Check with your school administration for approval about community service hours and requirements before requesting a Community Service Hours Certificate.  
- To qualify for community service hours certificate you must complete a minimum of 1 hour of a run, walk, dance, etc. and 2K​/1.24 miles.
- Use a FREE run app like iHealth, FitBit, MapMyRun, RunKeeper, etc. log your miles or have a parent walk/run with you to log your time/miles for you
- Upload your time/miles to RESULTS that you completed the event. Click on this link >>SUBMIT YOUR RESULTS HERE
- Send a picture, or video clip that verifies your time/miles showing the date of completion to diaperdash@alohadiaperbank.org along with a short paragraph on why you support Diaper Need Awareness in Hawaii.

WHY DIAPERS MATTER
*Food Stamps cannot be used for diapers.
*Diapers cost up to $100-150 per month, per baby.
*Many parents have to choose between buying food or diapers.
*Wearing a diaper for too long jeopardizes a baby's health.
*Childcare centers require parents to provide a day's supply of diapers (8-10 per day).
*Babies without diapers are turned away from childcare.
*Parents without access to childcare can't go to work.
*Lack of diaper access can lead to tension in the home.
*Tension in the home can lead to child abuse and neglect.
*Due to Covid-19 many families are struggling to afford diapers
