Annual Regatta to Honor and Support Our Wounded and Their Families, and the Families of Our Fallen.

Join us for a great day of canoe racing off the shores of Waikiki. This year's race will be a double-elimination, five lane straightaway, approximately 1/4 mile, on the waters off Fort DeRussy.   Teams of 5 will be provided a steersman.  Entrants may only participate on one team, in one race division. We are only accepting a maximum of 90 teams, so please register early.

DIVISIONS: up to 90 teams

60 Veterans and 30 Wounded Warriors + Gold Star families teams

Wounded Warrior & Gold Star Families if you need to be connected with a community leader to join, please email us at nakoawoundedwarrior@gmail.com

Veterans: (including active duty) if you need help in joining a team, please email us at nakoawoundedwarrior@gmail.com

SKILL LEVEL:

No prior experience is necessary to participate in this event, though a love of the ocean is important. If you plan to fly into Oahu from the mainland, we will offer practice time in the days prior to the event. Teams of 5 individuals are provided a steersman to compete in a 6 man Hawaiian Racing Canoe regatta race.  Each team will race at least twice, in elimination style competition.

OUR HISTORY

Launched in 2009, Na Koa Wounded Warrior Canoe Regatta was created to assist recovering troops through the ‘healing power’ of the Hawaiian waters. The first event took place at the Pearl Harbor Marina with 67 teams from the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard and other organizations. The event has since expanded to include a Youth Division, and to include our Gold Star Ohana in the Wounded Warrior Division. The Honolulu Navy League sponsored the event in 2013, and the Hawaii Chapter of the Association of the United States Army has hosted the event since. The regatta has quickly gained popularity in its short lifespan with nearly 1000 participants attending the 2019 race.
