Description
ALS is a rare disease, with no known cause and no cure. In Hawaii, there are 71 people living with ALS (pALS) at any one time. At the late stages of the illness, pALS are human beings “locked in” bodies that are paralyzed, requiring 24/7 care.
An ALS Residence will provide the kind of specialized care pALS require that respects, not only their basic needs to breathe and be nourished, but also their human right to live in dignity and grow/develop as people despite their disability. Able-bodied people require no less, why should pALS ask for less?
This is our primary mission at ALS Foundation of Hawaii. Thank you for your kokua in helping us fulfill our mission.
Please make this 5k Run/Walk/Roll as meaningful as you want it to be. A casual stroll. A challenging run. Steps taken with a friend,
holding hands or a cuppa Joe. Bike it! Or gently roll on your wheelchair. On a beautiful morning - in a spot on Earth where many would trade places with you in a heartbeat, let’s make this a great experience!
After your walk, stay for some fun and snacks!
From all of us at ALSFH, mahalo nui loa and have a good time!
