💜Join Us for the Freedom Run/Walk – A Celebration of Strength, Hope & Seizure Freedom!

The Epilepsy Foundation of Hawai‘i’s annual Freedom Run/Walk brings together families, friends, and community members to raise awareness and support those impacted by epilepsy.

Freedom means freedom from stigma and fear around seizures — and we’re running (and walking!) together for a more informed, inclusive Hawai‘i.

 

Event Details & Perks

Know before you go.

Join us on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at Kailua High School in Kailua.

• Check-in begins at 5:30 AM
• Event starts at 7:00 AM sharp
• 5K and 10K timed runs are chip-timed by Timeline Hawaiʻi
• Adult timed-run registration is $50 and includes a race shirt while supplies last
• Youth timed-run registration is $25 and includes a youth race shirt while supplies last
• The 1-Mile Awareness Walk is free, open to all ages, and includes a regular bib (not chip-timed)
• Optional event shirt for walkers: $15 while supplies last

Race day extras:
• First 100 keiki registrants receive a special participation gift
• Early registrants may be eligible for special prize drawings
• Registered 5K/10K runners and volunteers enjoy shave ice after the race

Why It Matters

Running with purpose.

The Epilepsy Foundation of Hawaiʻi is the only local nonprofit dedicated solely to epilepsy in Hawaiʻi—serving an estimated 14,000 people, including about 2,000 children.

Seizures are among the top three medical emergencies in schools.

All proceeds help support local programs and services, including:

• Seizure First Aid training
• Community education
• Support groups and ʻohana outings
• Referral and advocacy services
• Support for the national Epilepsy & Seizure Helpline, with Hawaiʻi serving as the after-hours team
• Our annual community education conference
