FAQs
Check-in will be open from 9:00-9:50AM on race day, October 18th.
For those who signed up to run, we was ask that you arrive at check-in with extra time to spare. We'll need to assign each runner a bib to ensure times are properly tracked.
We will share more info soon about where in the park check-in will take place!
Great question! The only difference is that runners will receive a bib at check-in so that their time can be properly tracked.
If you're on the fence about whether you'll run, or unsure if you want your run timed, we advise you register for the run anyway. Everyone who signs up to run will have the option at check-in to opt out of receiving a bib!
The parking lot is located on the west side of the park. There are entrances to the lot at the following intersections: California and W Belle Plaine, California and W Berteau, and California and W Cullom.
Both runners and walkers will start at 10AM.
To keep everyone safe and provide runners with plenty of room to start, we'll ask that all walkers queue at the back of the starting line.
Yes, we will have a jug of water and cups. However, we still recommend participants bring their own water for before and after the race.
The course is three laps around the pedestrian paths at the park. We will have signage and volunteers on the course to provide directions regarding which paths to take. These paths will be open to the public, so we ask that all runners and walkers stay to the right of the path to ensure pedestrians, bikers, and fellow 5K participants have plenty of room to safely pass.
All 5K run/walk registrants will receive a commemorative race shirt. While we ask all registrants to provide us with their shirt size during registration, we cannot guarantee you'll receive that size shirt at check-in (but we'll do our best!).
No, HOW does not keep record of a donor's gender or date of birth in our fundraising database.
HOW is utilizing RunSignup, a race registration platform, to host this year's 5K website. RunSignup, as a platform, is conveniently designed to integrate registrations, donations, and individual fundraising. While accommodating the needs of casual races, like ours, the RunSignup platform is geared toward offering competitive races and events the information and tools they need. Thus, both DOB and gender being required fields during registration.
