Welcome to Hair of the Dog 5K and Beer Mile!

WHEN:

10:00 – 5K
12:00 – Beer MILE
 3:00 – Wiener Dog Derby
and a full day of run, dogs, beer, and FUN!

WHERE:
Atypical Brewery & Barrelworks
510 E Central Ave, Minot, ND

WHY:
We love running, dogs, and beer and we wanted turn those loves into a way to give back to the animal rescue organizations in our community.

This race is fun and social and is NOT a qualifier for the World Championship (yes that’s a real thing).

EVENTS:

5k Run/Walk and Dog Jog – This is a traditional 5K event and will be timed.  You can run it as fast as you can or jog/walk it for fun.  Feel free to bring your dog with you as this event is “for the dogs”, but dogs are not required!  All human participants will get a signature Hair of the Dog mug as well as a free post run beer at Atypical.

Beer Mile – Please join us for the 3rd annual Beer Mile!  4 Beers and a 1 Mile run! Here is how it is done..
     - Drink one full can of beer within the sectioned off Beer Zone on our course.
     - Run one loop of the 1/4 mile course. Simply follow the cones and back to the Beer Zone
     - You will repeat the above steps 3 more times.
     - If you "toss your cookies" (PLEASE use one of the garbage receptacles along the course for this purpose), you have to run a one lap penalty for this offense.
**Thankfully you don't have to consume an extra beer, just run an additional 1/4 mile.

Does that sound like an impossible feat?  Get four friends and sign up for a Relay Team!

** You will be required to show your driver’s license or proof of age. NO ID, NO RACE. NO EXCEPTIONS. All participants will be given a wrist bracelet that must be worn during the event.

All participants of the beer mile will get a signature Hair of the Dog mug as well as the four free Atypical beers used in the event.

Wiener Dog Derby – All Dachshunds and Dachshund mixes welcome. If we have enough registered Dachshunds we will have age categories but otherwise the top 3 dogs win.  Each Dachshund should bring two human assistants, one to let them go when the race director yells “go” and one to stand on the other end of the lane bribing them with food or treats to get them to the other end the fastest.  Each dog participant will get a treat bag and custom race bandana to wear at the event.

Packet Pickup and Day of Registration:

Packet pickup will be held Friday May 16th from 4:30-7:00pm at Atypical Brewery and Barrelworks as well as the morning of the event from 8:45-9:45am.  There will also be an additional beer mile packet pickup from 11-11:45 and a wiener dog check in from 1:30-2:00. Same day registration will be available for all events. Cash and credit cards accepted.

Signature Hair of the Dog shirts and stickers will be available for purchase as an add-on the day of the event with all profits going directly to the animal rescues.
