2021 New Year's Day HAIR OF THE DOG Run/Walk

Fri January 1, 2021 Tucson, AZ 85715 US Directions

Information on 2021 race details

Well, we hope to hold the event in person following the schedule below. However, if we cannot hold the event in person at Udall Park, these are the current options:

1) Provide refunds to all those who ask.

2) Find an alternative route.  For example, we're hoping to move our October TMC Get Moving Tucson half-marathon to a different location that does not have so many permit requirements, while utilizing current best practices for social distancing and public safety.

3) Move to a virtual event and give everyone the race souvenirs and opportunities for raffle awards (instead of age group awards).  We did this successfully  with the TMC Meet Me Downtown Night Run back in May and we're planning this for the TMC Tucson 10k.

Doggie FAQ
Please read farther below for our Doggie FAQ.

Parking
There is plenty of parking on the north side of Udall Park and in the parking lots on the NE and SW corners of Tanque Verde and Sabino Canyon Roads. For safety, please note that all internal park roads, including the Sabino Canyon Road entrance to Udall Park, will be closed to vehicles from 10:30am - 1:00pm.

Bathrooms
Thanks to Waste Management, there will be 15 portojohns near the amphitheater staging area -- plus there are restrooms near the Udall Park ramadas.

Headphones
We know that music is a lot of fun, but please don't wear headphones when running or walking in the race. It's a safety hazard and potential disruption to those near you. We have DJ Rich warming us up with fun tunes and Shrimp Chaperone at the finish area, so there is plenty of opportunity to get psyched up! Plus, you can always talk with your running neighbor!

Public Safety
Your safety is our priority, and we are grateful to AMR for supplying an ambulance crew and to TPD for providing a dedicated on-site officer. The route takes place on City and County parks, so please be mindful of your surroundings and be respectful of others.  Please, no dogs on the 8k.

Weather
Tucson on New Year's Day is often a pretty nice place to be!

2021 Awards to be announced
