The Heatwave Half Relay was created so friends, families, coworkers, and running groups can complete the Half Marathon distance together as a team.

The full 13.1-mile course can be divided up however your team wants!

• Split it between 2 runners
• Rotate between 4 runners
• Create 8 short relay legs
• Or come up with your own strategy!

Whether your team is competitive or just looking to have fun together, this relay is designed to make the Half Marathon distance more approachable, flexible, and team-focused.

How It Works

• Every participant must register individually for the event.
• Each team will receive a relay baton containing the official timing chip.
• The baton must stay with the compeetitor for the entire race.
• Teams are responsible for deciding:
  • where handoffs happen
  • when handoffs happen
  • how the mileage is divided

Relay Logistics

• The Half Marathon course will be run in laps, making handoffs easier for teams.
• Teams are responsible for getting runners to and from their handoff locations.
• We will not provide shuttle transportation between exchange points.
• There are no official relay exchange zones — teams may coordinate their own handoff plan throughout the event.

The Goal

This event is all about teamwork, encouragement, and accomplishing the Half Marathon together. Whether you run one mile or ten, every teammate plays a role in getting the baton to the finish line.
