The Hokie Half Marathon has a 4-hour time limit for participants. The course will close at 11:30am (about 18:20 pace per mile). Those who did not finish within the cut-off can still participate in the post race food and festivities, however we will not give out any finisher awards to those who did not finish on time and course support may not be available after 11:30am.
Bag drop is available at the tent near the finish line. You must use the clear bag you receive at packet pick-up. For security reasons, no other bags will be accepted. Please do not leave any bags unattended aside from bag drop – any bags left unattended will be searched by police.
Yes, you have until 3 weeks before the race to make changes to the text displayed on your bib. While logged into the RunSignup account you used to register, follow these instructions to update "Questions" for the Hokie Half Marathon & 5K.
There are 2 parking areas for the race. You will receive a parking pass at the packet pickup expo telling you where to park. Parking Pass A is the Corporate Research Center lots near the start/finish line. Parking Pass B is the the VT Chicken Hill lot. Beginning at 5:30am on race day, shuttles will run every 10 minutes to transport athletes and spectators from Virginia Tech’s Chicken Hill parking – across from Lane Stadium – to the VT Executive Airport (1601 Research Center Dr) just across from the finish area. The shuttle ride takes ~5 minutes from departure. All spectators not accompanied by a runner with Parking Pass A should park in the Chicken Hill Lot and ride the shuttle. Shuttles will be interrupted from 8am to 8:20am for the Hokie 5K.
Yes, runners can be dropped off at the Virginia Tech Executive Airport (1601 Research Center Dr). It is directly across from the finish area. Please follow Drop Off directional signs and the directions of parking marshals.
You can transfer your registration to another runner or defer to next year as long as it is done at least one week before the race. See instructions for each option below. For questions or assistance with transfers or deferrals please email hokiehalf@gmail.com with "Defer" or "Transfer" in the subject line. Registration fees are NON-REFUNDABLE.
Yes. Please forward your registration confirmation email to them and send them a picture of a photo ID (e.g. driver's license).
Yes, for a fee. During registration, you have the option to add race day packet pickup for $10. If you later decide you want to add race day packet pickup, follow these instructions. If you have not added race day packet pickup, you must pick up your packet on Saturday at the expo - you cannot pickup your bib on race morning.
Race registration cuts off promptly at 7:00 pm on the Saturday before the race. The packet pickup expo is open until 8pm. There is no race day registration.
Spectators wishing to see the start or finish of the race must park at Parking Lot B at Chicken Hill and take the short shuttle ride to the finish line - unless accompanied by a runner with a Parking Lot A pass. Chicken Hill is just past mile 8 on the course so you can park, watch your runner climb Chicken Hill, and then take the shuttle to catch the finish! Other spectating options include Uptown Christiansburg Mall (mile 3) or parking at RunAbout Sports and catching the runners along Airport Rd (mile 10.5). Please be aware that lane closures along the race route will slow your commute.
