1. Where do the proceeds go?
All proceeds benefit the Holley Institute and support our mission of providing resources, education and support for the Deaf, Deafblind and Hard of Hearing children and their families.
2. Where is the event located?
The Holley Jolley 5K Run/Walk takes place at:
Lake St. Clair Metropark
Par 3 Pavilion/Picnic Shelter 31300 Metro Parkway Harrison Township, MI 48045
3. Where do I park?
There is ample free parking by the Par 3 Pavilion/ Picnic Shelter, where the race begins. There will be Holley Jolley 5K signs directing you to the Par 3 Picnic Shelter. PLEASE NOTE:
Lake St. Clair Metropark charges $10 vehicle entrance fee per car. Carpooling is recommended.
4. What time does the race begin?
· Packet pickup & check in: Begins at 8:00am
· 5k Run/walk Start Time: 9:00am
· Kids Fun Run Start Time: 10:00am
We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before the race begins to allow time for parking, check-in and warming up.
5. What does my registration include?
Adult registration includes:
· Entry into the professionally timed 5K Run/Walk
· Race bib (running number)
· Holley Jolley 5K T-shirt
· Starbucks coffee and pastries
· Water and refreshments
· Access to post-race day activities
· Eligibility for cash prizes awarded to the fastest male and female runners Children ages 12 and under may participate for free in the Kids 1-mile Fun Run. T-shirts for children are available for an additional cost during registration for $10.
6. Is the Race timed?
Yes! The 5k is professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation. Participants will receive race results by scanning QR codes that will be available on site and on your bib. Results will be posted on this race page.
7. Can I walk instead of run?
Absolutely! This event welcomes both runners and walkers of all experience levels.
8. Where do I pick up my race packet?
Race packets may be picked up on the morning of the event at 8:00am at the Par 3 Pavilion.
Your packet includes:
· Race bib number
· Safety pins
· Event T-shirt
9. Can I pick up my family or friend’s Packet at Packet Pick Up?
Yes.
10. What are the T-shirt sizes?
T-shirt sizes range from Extra Small (XS) through XXXL(3x) for both youth and adult sizes. All adult registrations include a T-shirt. Children participating for free may purchase a T-shirt separately during registration. Participants who register after
Friday May 8 will automatically receive a size Large unless additional inventory is available.
11. Is there a Kids Fun Run?
Yes! The Kids Fun Run begins at 10:00am and is designed to be a fun, family-friendly activity for children. Adults/parents/guardians and other race attendees can run with the kids.
12. Are strollers or baby joggers allowed?
Yes. Strollers and baby joggers are welcome; however, we ask that participants using them to line up towards the back of the starting area for safety.
13. Are dogs Allowed?
While Lake St. Clair Metropark allows dogs in certain areas, we kindly ask that pets not attend the race event for the safety and comfort of all participants. Service dogs are welcome.
14. What is the course like?
Enjoy a scenic 5K course through Lake St. Clair Metropark with beautiful park and lakefront views.
Please note:
· The course is not entirely flat
· Most of the route is paved
· Portions include grass and wooded boardwalk area
· The boardwalk section includes a ramp
· Some surfaces may be uneven
· There will be flags and cones to indicate your route
15. Is the course accessible?
We strive to make this event welcoming and accessible for Deaf, Deafblind and Hard of hearing community and all community members.
Accessibility support includes:
· ASL interpreter will be available at registration/check in and any announcements
· Multiple staff and volunteers who know ASL
· Clear signage throughout the event area
· Written race-day information shared in advance
· Volunteer available to assist participants as needed
If you or someone in your group has a specific accessibility need, please contact us before the race day so we can best support your experience.
16. Where are the bathrooms located?
The nearest restrooms are in the back of the Par 3 Pavilion; other bathrooms are available throughout the park. Please check the park map for other locations.
17. What should I bring on race day?
We recommend bringing comfortable running or walking shoes, weather appropriate clothing, a water bottle, sunscreen, and your positive energy!
18. What happens if it rains?
This event will take place in rain or shine unless severe weather conditions create an unsafe environment. Any major weather-related updates will be communicated by email and social media.
19. Are refunds available?
Because of the planning and advance purchases required for the event, including T- shirts and race materials, refunds are not available. If you can no longer attend, your registration fee will still support the Holley Institute’s mission!
20. This is my first 5K. What should I expect?
Congrats, we're excited to have you join us! Here are a few tips for first time participants:
· Arrive early to allow time for parking and check in
· Pick up your race bib and T-shirt at packet pickup beginning at 8:00am
· Wear the race bib (your race number) on the outermost layer on of clothing on your torso using provided safety pins
· Fastest runners should line up near the front of the starting area, while walkers and participants with stroller should line up toward the back
· Follow the course signage and volunteers throughout the race
Most importantly, have fun! Whether you run, jog, walk, this event is about community, inclusion, and supporting children and families.
