Description

Whether you're a seasoned runner looking to test your limits or simply seeking an entertaining way to spend an evening, the 2nd Annual Backpocket Beer Mile promises an unforgettable time.  The Timed Backpocket Beer Mile will be held Friday October 18 at 6:00 at the Yard in the Johnston Town Center.  Timing will be via chip.  We'll also have a Fun Wave at 6:20 that is untimed.  Relay teams of 2 may register for the Fun Wave, but both participants must register.  You can pick up your packet on Thursday Oct 17 at Fleet Feet from 3-6pm (521 E. Locust St, DSM) or Friday Oct 18 from 3:00-5:00 at Backpocket Pin & Pixel (Johnston).  Come for the challenge, the laughter, and the chance to celebrate both athleticism and the joy of sharing a beer with friends and fellow enthusiasts. Don't miss out on the chance to be a part of this unique sporting event that celebrates the perfect fusion of athleticism and liquid courage!

Participants must complete four laps around the Yard, with the added twist of consuming a beer before each lap. That's right – one beer per lap, four beers in total! Athletes must consume their beverage in a designated "beer zone" before they can continue their run.

Participants must be of legal drinking age and are required to drink only standard beers with a minimum alcohol content of 5% ABV. Any athlete unable to hold down their beer will face a penalty lap before continuing.

The Backpocket Beer Mile Race is an inclusive event, featuring both competitive and recreational categories. Costumes are strongly encouraged!

Safety is of utmost importance. All participants are encouraged to drink responsibly and are required to designate sober drivers or use public transportation after the event. There are medical personnel on-site to attend to any potential issues related to alcohol consumption and exertion.

Prizes will be awarded to the top overall male and overall female participants as well as best costume.  Prizes will also be awarded to the top male and female in each age category: 21-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50+.   The true prize is the sense of achievement and the memories of participating in this thrilling and hilarious experience!
