Join us on June 12, 2026 for the Lost Island Fire Runner 5K. This race takes you to the relaxing vibes of Lost Island Waterpark, as you drift around the lazy river (on the sidewalk of course!) and back to the high thrill vibes of Lost Island Themepark. Here you will snake your way through Tamariki, Udara, Awa, Yuta, and ending in Mura at Fire Runner, the winner of the USA Today Readers' Choice Awards for Best New Theme Park Attraction of 2025. Come for the race, stay for the rides and kick your weekend off right.

Packet Pickup

Race packets will be available day of from 7-8:30. All packets must be picked up before 8:30 on the day of the race.

Where is the race located?
This race will start at Lost Island Themepark (2600 E. Shaulis Road, Waterloo, IA 50701). This is where you will come to pick up your packet and start the race. The race route takes you through Lost Island Waterpark, back to Lost Island Themepark, and will end at Fire Runner, Lost Island's award winning roller coaster, and namesake of the 5K.
Can I walk instead of run?
We encourage everybody to partake in the Fire Runner 5K, no matter their fitness level. This is about going out, getting some exercise, and having some fun while you're at it. Run as fast as you can, jog with your friends, or enjoy a nice walk.
Are strollers allowed?
Yes! Bring the kids along! Anyone 3 and under is free. 4 and above will have to register for the event.
Are dogs or pets allowed?
No dogs or pets are allowed for the Fire Runner 5K
Will this event take place in inclement weather?
The Fire Runner 5K will take place rain or shine. The parks remain open during rain.
Can I use my theme park entry on a different day?
Entry for the Lost Island Themepark is for the day of the race only. Every racer will receive a wristband for entry to the park. If you want to leave, you can use the wrist band to get back into the park later that day. Park hours for race day are 10:30-6:30.
Will I have to pay for parking?
Parking will be free at the Lost Island Themepark the morning of the race. If you leave the park and decide to come back, you will have to pay $10 to park. Parking at the Waterpark is $10 all day.
What if I purchased a waterpark ticket?
Waterpark tickets are good only for the day of the race. Waterpark hours are 10:30-6:30. There is a free shuttle that can take you from the theme park to the waterpark so you do not have to pay for parking at the waterpark.
Are there refunds?
All sales are final.
