Alma Mater 5k Run & Walk

This is a come-and-rep-your-alma-mater timed 5k fun run for anyone who wants to participate.  Come rep Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska, Drake, BYU, Utah, Utah State, your high school, elementary, day care or any other institution.  Sporting your school colors is encouraged or just run for yourself and have a fun time. It is a race for all members of our community and is a fun family-friendly event. Children under 12 may participate at no charge. We will have a children's race about 10am. Sign up by Oct 5th to get a t-shirt (12 & up only). $25 now, $30 by Oct1 or $35 on Race Day.

The run will take place at the Raccoon River Multi-Use Trail in west Des Moines. The course is a 3.2 mile crushed rock/asphalt nature trail around the entire lake. The trail winds its way between the lake and the Raccoon River providing a natural experience that can rarely be found in an urban environment.

Packet Pickup:  Pick up your race packet the morning of the race at the race site beginning at 8:00 am.  

This isn’t just a run. We are doing this for a good cause. Proceeds from the Alma Mater 5k will go to support replenishment grants for Iowa students to attend Brigham Young University.
