Race has been changed to virtual for all distances
Runners,
Over the last week we have been working tirelessly with our partners and Boise Parks and Recreation. After many conversations and creative ideas, we must announce the Frost to Flowers 5k, 10k, and Half Marathon scheduled on July 18th, will be changed to a Virtual Race Event for all distances. This is following in the footsteps of many great races this year (Susan G. Komen and FitOne) that have had to recently modify to ensure the safety and well-being of all involved. This does not mean you lose out, now you can now run ANYTIME and ANYWHERE. Remember we are running and raising money for an AMAZING charity, The Alzheimer's Association of Greater Idaho.
Our first priority is to maintain the health and safety of all our participants. Unfortunately, we do not feel we would able to put on the quality event which you have come to expect from us given the current climate at this time.
Answers to some important questions we’re sure you have…
- Do I need to do anything? Nope. You will automatically be switched to the virtual so you don’t have to do anything! We will send you an email on how to report your time. Just keep track of how you did.
- Where do I get my medal/swag? We will be doing a “drive through” medal/swag pickup for all participants. Nobody will have to get out of their cars and will allow us to keep social distancing rules in place and limit contact. Just show up!
Where: Hawks Memorial Stadium Parking lot
When:
- Friday 7/17 from 4pm-8pm
- Saturday 7/18 from 8am-Noon
- Can somebody else pick up my medal for me? Absolutely. Please make sure they present a note or email from you with your full name, distance, and permission to pick up your medal. (See school trained us well!)
- Are there still spots available for the Virtual? Yes!! We are still taking registrations now until the distances sell out. Remember, part of the proceeds goes to a great cause that is honestly near and dear to our hearts. (The Father of one of the owners passed away from Alzheimer’s so he is very passionate about helping raise money and awareness for this charity)
- What if I don’t want to do a virtual? Do I have other options? We understand that a virtual may not be your thing. So, we have the following options for you. Decisions must be made before 7/17/2020
· Receive a race code for a future race (Yes, we will be back to timed races!)
· Donate your full registration amount to the Alzheimer's Association Greater Idaho Chapter
These options will be available to choose below. Please make your choice no later than 7/16/2020 so we can prepare the correct number of medals for pickup.
- How will this affect the Flower to Frost race in September? At the current moment the race is continuing as scheduled but as with everything in 2020 it is subject to change. We will do our best to keep you informed as we will continue to monitor the global and local situation.
We thank you so much for your patience and hope you know we have exhausted every opportunity we could to try to make this happen safely. We love you all and look forward to returning to timed, in person races soon. Remember, it doesn't matter how you get there. We believe in you!
Sincerely,
Our Stride
