Jacey's Race is a 5K running race in Sandpoint Idaho, run annually on the second Sunday in July to benefit families of children with life threatening illness. Each year Jacey's Race benefits from 1 to 4 families and 1-3 local child-centered organizations . Most years Jacey's Race is a timed 5K, a 1K fun run and and expo vendor section with numerous booths from local organizations, a silent auction, and numerous activities particularly for children including a cake walk, water slide, dunk tank, face painting, sno-cones and cotton candy. However in 2020, due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, child actives are on hold and cancelled for this year due to safety concerns. For 2020 we are registering runners to participate in a virtual race during the week ending on Sunday, July 12. On Sunday, depending on State guidelines, we plan to have the usual 5K race set up between the hours of 8:00 Am and 12:00 PM (noon), and we ask all runners and walkers who wish to participate in person, to run the race during these hours. Only family members that live together may start together. The rest will need to stat the race in a sporadic fashion, waiting at least 10 seconds between persons starting the race, in the interest of safety. If possible, water will be available mid-race and at the finish line. A time clock at the start/finish will commence running at 8 AM and racers are expected to monitor and record their own times. They will place their time card on the timeline on our Race Results board. (Virtual runners will enter their time online by Sunday at noon.) The start and finish line will be at the usual place across from the main entrance of Sandpoint High School. The Race is always free for children 12 and under. Donations are always welcome. The proceeds of the race will go entirely to the children and their families and the organizations we support, as the staff are entirely volunteers and unpaid.
