Description

Jacey's Race is a 5K running race in Sandpoint Idaho, run annually on the second Sunday in July to benefit families of children with life threatening illness.  Each year Jacey's Race benefits from 1 to 4 families  and 1-3 local child-centered organizations .    Most years Jacey's Race is a timed 5K, a 1K fun run and and expo vendor section with numerous booths from local organizations, a silent auction, and numerous activities particularly for children including a cake walk, water slide, dunk tank, face painting, sno-cones and cotton candy.  However in 2021, due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, child actives are curtailed for this year due to safety concerns.   Depending on the Covid prevalence in early July, many of the activities will be reinstated. For 2021 we are registering runners to participate in either a virtual race during the week ending on Sunday, July 11, or in a traditional race on Sunday, July 11.  Depending on State guidelines, we plan to have the usual 5K race set for a gun start at 8:30 AM with staggered starts allowed over the next 30 minutes for those uncomfortable with a group start. Therefore, we ask all runners and walkers who wish to participate in person, to run the race starting in a staggered fashion at the runner’s discretion, between 8:30 and 9:00 AM.   Water stations will be available on the course and at the finish line.   Virtual racers completing their run in the week prior to the “July 11 Race” are expected to monitor and record their own time. They may submit their times by email at jaceysrace@gmail.com.  The start and finish line will be at the usual place across from the main entrance of Sandpoint High School.  The Race is always free for children 12 and under.  Donations are always welcome.  The proceeds of the race will go entirely to the children and their families and the organizations we support, as the staff are entirely volunteers and unpaid.
