Description

Please join us on Sunday, December 15, 2024 to celebrate the life of our friend Gene Harding - a longtime member of the Bloomington-Normal running community.

Gene devoted his life to making the world a sweeter place as a celebrated pastry chef. When he wasn’t in the kitchen making his famous pumpkin pie, you could find him cheering for the Florida Gators or on the golf course with friends. Gene will be remembered for his bellowing laugh, his warm smile, and being the best golden retriever owner.

This event is a free, un-timed fun run.  There are no t-shirts and no awards.  The course is a certified 5K route and there will be a race clock at the start and finish. Participants will wear race bibs to be identified as a registered participant - we need everyone to register and sign our waiver.

COSTUMES ENCOURAGED! Gene loved great food and pastries, classic rock, golden retrievers and the Florida Gators. Wear a costume in any one of these categories and you could win a prize!

Plan on sticking around for a post-run PARTY and CELEBRATION. This event is free but we would love for participants to BYOB and bring a snack to share. Even if you didn't know Gene - you are invited and welcome, this is a run or walk for all.

Donations encouraged online or with cash/check on race day to World Central Kitchen. Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a nonprofit organization that is first to the frontlines providing fresh meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises.

We will need a few hands to set up and clean up - please email julie@fleetfeetbloomington.com if you're willing to help.

Course

The run will be on Constitution Trail and the trail will be open to the public.  Please familiarize yourself with the route - we will not have any course markings or volunteers on the course.  This is a FUN RUN - you are welcome to run or walk as much or as little as you'd like. The course time limit is one hour.
