Joyful Movement: $5k Fundraiser

Joyful Movement $5k 

To celebrate 45 years of raising awareness and supporting those living with eating disorders, we invite you to join us in your interpretation of Joyful Movement, to benefit ANAD (The National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders)! Together, we commit to move our bodies and minds in ways that feel good. Choose a time or distance commitment that works for you and walk, run, skip, stretch, meditate or roll your way to your goal! Our event aims to raise at least $5,000 to help ANAD continue providing free, compassionate peer support. 

This is a virtual event, so you can participate in your own neighborhood or pick a scenic destination. We are offering a two week window in which to complete your event, and our 'winners' will be the people who can set and meet their own goals, not based on the fastest time. 

Everyone is welcome: whether you’re currently on your recovery journey, participating on behalf of a loved one, or thinking about alternate goals for yourself, we want to include you. If organized movement is not something that serves you, right now (or not something that is medically safe at this time), you can commit to an alternate event that will help you meet your non-movement goals, or think of unique ways to move your mind. ANAD believes that everyone can make and set goals unique and beneficial to themselves, so we invite you to set a goal to work towards and celebrate with us. For example:

• Mindfully spend time outside
• Meditate for a set time
• Run with friends
• Explore your town
• Train with a pet
• Complete a good deed every time you train

Whatever your goal, share it with us for your chance to “win”. Email kristen.portland@anad.org to share your goal and for a chance to be featured. Once you have completed your event, follow up to let us know if you met your own challenge and how you felt along the way. Keep an eye out for additional contest options for registered runners, too!

All registrants will receive a beautiful custom medal mailed to them ahead of the event period. Medal reveal coming in July!
